Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
Enjoy the snow and stars! 75 km of high-altitude trails in the snowiest spot in southern Quebec. 27 km of cross-country ski trails in enchanting surroundings. 10 km of nordic trails round Mount Megantic at close to 900 metres in altitude, 33 km of snowshoe trails access the peaks of Mounts Notre-Dame, Saint-Joseph and Megantic. A shuttle service brings visitors to the top of Mount Megantic on weekends in February and March. Ski and snowshoe rental available. Rustic shelters, prospector’s tents and camping platforms. Catering service offered on weekends. Sliding to the base available for the whole family. Interpretation activities focusing on nature and the starry skies. Torch-lit evenings on Saturdays, by reservation.
A protected site in the earth of the first international Dark-Sky Reserve ! Nestled in a crook of the Appalachians, a stone's throw from the New Hampshire border, Mount Megantic National Park is unbeatable for fans of short and long hiking expeditions. It offers 80 km of trails with differing levels around this imposing yet alluring massif. The trails reach three summits, all more than 1000 metres high: Mounts Megantic, Saint-Joseph and Victoria. Discover superb views as well as diverse flora and fauna at different altitudes and different sides of the slopes. Museums and interpretation centres
ASTROLab, Mont-Mégantic Notre-Dame-des-Bois Park. An astounding introduction to astronomy and nature for the whole family! The ASTROLab in Mount Megantic park is an interpretation centre that offers visitors activities introducing them to the world of astronomy. Day visits at the base of the mountain let you discover our theme rooms and watch the Cosmic Rhythms movie – an amazing big-screen voyage to the borders of the universe! You can also head up to the summit and visit the observatory, with its 1.6-metre telescope. In the evening, participate in an astronomy event at the base or summit of the mountain. Reservations required.
A remarkable bird life! There are more than 125 bird species at the Mount Megantic National Park including the Canadian grey jay benefiting the climatic conditions found at the top of the mountain. Access to the summit by car and the numerous trails make the park an ideal place for bird lovers and professionals who like to watch birds in all seasons.
