L'Épopée de Capelton

Capelton Mines… underground visits at North Hatley. Journey beneath the earth at Capelton Mines in North Hatley! Our family business is dedicated to introducing visitors to the oldest industrial mining complex in Canada. We shed light on a forgotten aspect of our regional heritage. Take a trip below the ground into the 140-year-old Capelton Mine. Many activities have been developed or planned to let you discover the mining, natural and geological heritage of our site and of the region. We offer walking trails, a scenic boardwalk, an activity trail, treasure hunts, discovery trails through the Capelton marsh, an exhibition room, etc. Our plan was clear from the outset: the interpretation centre was created to promote mining history through education, heritage, tourism, culture and science.
