For a 100% Eastern Townships Raclette

Published on Dec 14, 2023

On cold winter days, we often enjoy eating a delicious and hearty raclette. Even more so when it’s an opportunity to treat ourselves to local cheeses. Here are two you might want to consider for your next feast!

Fromagerie des Cantons

With a choice of four raclette cheese varieties, you’re sure to have an interesting assortment on your plate when you return from visiting the Fromagerie des Cantons cheese factory. First, their classic cheese pairs well with meat cuts, vegetables and other side dishes you’ll add. Three other cheese varieties complete the factory’s offer: a 5-pepper cheese, a red wine cheese, and a lager-based variety. Can’t decide? Let yourself be tempted by a combination of all four flavours!

You can buy all these selections at the cheese factory, as well as in several grocery stores and specialty boutiques in the region.

Fromagerie La Station Fine Cheese Makers

Well known for cheeses such as their Alfred or the Chemin Hatley, the cheese factory La Station also proposes two raclette cheese varieties. La Raclette de Compton is an organic farm cheese with butter and hazelnut flavours. If you wish to take the experience a step further, try the Raclette de Compton au Poivre. The organic pink peppercorns added to the cheese give it a more intense flavour, and all the cheese’s subtleties emerge as you heat it. In fact, this cheese has won several awards, including a Silver Medal at the 2019 World Cheese Awards.

La Station cheeses are sold right here at the factory. You can also purchase them online and in several grocery stores or specialty boutiques throughout the region.
