Ceux qui me connaissent savent très bien que j’adore les vins et les bières des Cantons. C’est pourquoi j’ai voulu être un peu champ gauche et en apprendre un peu plus sur le cidre. Je ne suis pas particulièrement familière avec ce produit, alors qui de mieux qu’une entreprise avec déjà plus de 90 ans de métier en matière de cidre pour me l’expliquer. Un résumé de mon passage à la Cidrerie Milton!
La Cidrerie Milton est située à Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton à environ 15 minutes de la ville de Granby. Directement à la cidrerie, il y a plus de 25 variétés de cidre offerts à la boutique. Crois-moi, tu trouveras assurément un cidre à ton goût! Au comptoir de dégustation, tu peux goûter à huit de leurs cidres. Tout d’abord, on retrouve les quatre cidres dits classiques soient le Cid original, le Cid rosé, le Cid cuivré et le Cid sec. Puis, on retrouve également quatre cidres de spécialité variant selon la saison. Cette fois-ci, le bar à cidres offrait la Apple Tea, le Cid cerise griottes, le Cid Mont-Royal et l’Api-hop.
Comme nouveauté, la toute nouvelle édition de cidres en bouteille d’inspiration brassicole, la série exploration, conçue pour conquérir les amateurs de bières. Pour l’instant, ils n’ont que deux cidres de cette série, mais je crois bien que d’autres sortiront très bientôt. À suivre!
La Cidrerie Milton offre bien plus que du cidre. On retrouve sur place une offre gourmande incroyable! Tartes fraîches, jus de pommes, moût de pommes, slush à la pomme, confitures, gelées, un nombre incalculable de types de pomme, mais aussi des produits variés prêts-à-manger et une grande boutique mettant en vedette des produits locaux des environs. Il y a aussi un bistro où on peut prendre un bon déjeuner, un succulent sandwich ou une salade du jour. Et, oh surprise, les pommes sont à l’honneur dans tous les plats! En plus, durant l’automne, tu peux venir faire la cueillette de tes pommes favorites dans un décor enchanteur. Génial, non?
Je ne me suis pas rendue sur place simplement pour te décrire les lieux. (Oh que non!) La foodie en moi est rassasiée par l’offre et je veux absolument te partager mes trouvailles et mes coups de cœur.
Du côté des pommes, j’ai trouvé la petite pommette Dolgo fortement utilisée dans la création de produits transformés. Elle est idéale pour la création de gelées ou dans un assemblage pour la fabrication d’un cidre. C’est cette petite pommette qui donne la couleur rosée de leur fameux cidre rosé. En plus, c’est la plus petite pomme jamais trouvée dans un verger. Son goût est très acidulé. Je te laisse deviner la face que j’ai fait en la croquant. 😝
Du côté des cidres, j’ai adoré leur cidre AppleTea! Dès la première gorgée, j’ai vraiment goûté le miel et ressenti la chaleur d’un bon thé réconfortant que l’on prend durant l’hiver. Ce cidre mi-sec est composé de pommes McIntosh, Spartan, Honeycrisp, de pommettes inconnues et du thé Honeybush. Oui, oui, une pommette inconnue! La Cidrerie Milton possède énormément de variétés de pomme et, par hasard, ils ont trouvé un pommier non-identifié sur leur terrain donnant de jolies pommettes. Bref, pour moi, ce cidre est un super cadeau à offrir à un amoureux de thés. Noël s’en vient, je dis ça comme ça!
Petite note : ces cidres ne sont disponibles qu’à la cidrerie en cruchon réutilisable.
La Cidrerie Milton veut réellement démocratiser le cidre et sa fabrication. Selon eux, il est plus facile de produire du cidre à la maison que de la bière ou du vin! Pour ce faire, la cidrerie organise une journée de conférences et de formations sur le cidre maison à chaque année. Psst! J’ai pu obtenir un aide-mémoire sur les étapes de base de la fabrication. Je te laisse la feuille, ici. Reste à l’affût de la prochaine édition de leur journée du cidre maison qui aura lieu à l’automne 2020.
Bref, la Cidrerie Milton, s’t’une pomme-al de bonne idée pour les fans de pommes, d’alcool ou des deux!
