Tourism des Sources has come up with some great ideas - even last minute ones! - for the weekend of September 15-17.

What better way to get to know a region than to immerse yourself in the life of the local craftspeople and food producers? And it couldn’t be easier! September 16 and 17 sees the fourth edition of Saveurs et Savoir-faire des Sources - a celebration of what makes this area special.

30 venues and more….

Le Circuit Saveurs et Savoir-faire des Sources, is a route that leads you to 30 local enterprises who are opening their doors to the general public and offering visitors a fun and ‘tasty’ experience. Participants include Le Moulin 7 microbrewery, the Cerise Mobile food truck, the ferme Lait Sangliers des bois (a farm that raises wild boar), les Jardins de Jeannine and En bleu et verre (jewelry).

It’s a great opportunity to chat to the food producers and craftspeople about their particular passions and to learn a little about the work that goes into the things they produce. To those who enjoy craft beers, cheeses and handcrafted items of a high quality, it’s quite an eye opener!

Some new features

The Circuit has added several new features for this year. Firstly, the route has been divided in two sections – east and west – all the better to experience the event to the full. Secondly, the organizers have designed a website for the Circuit with a digital version of a map, marked with the various venues and attractions. There are also three sites where young families and small fry can stretch their legs and have fun with inflatable games.

The circuit Saveurs et Savoir-faire des Sources is a co-promotion by Caisses Desjardins des Sources and the MRC des Sources. By exploring the towns and villages in the region they’re showcasing, visitors will quickly discover the authentic nature of this corner of the Eastern Townships.

More to discover

In addition to the Circuit, it’s well worth stopping at communities such as Saint-Camille, Asbestos and Danville, one of the nine Cœurs villageois des Cantons-de-l’est. It’s also worth noting that during the Thanksgiving Weekend (October 7-9) the Étang Burbank wetlands in Danville sees the arrival of thousands of migratory birds. It’s a spectacular sight and well worth a stop.

Other must-see attractions include the Mont Ham regional park, the observation platform at the Asbestos open pit mine and Le P’tit Bonheur cultural centre in Saint Camille. In short, the region itself merits taking a daytrip – or even longer! - to des Sources.
