12 Hiking Outings in the Eastern TownshipsWhat to do this weekend?

Vous n’êtes pas du genre à prévoir des semaines à l’avance? Aucun problème, on a pensé à vous. Quels que soient vos goûts, vous tomberez sûrement sous le charme de l’une ou l’autre de nos suggestions.
Marier gastronomie et… bikini
C’est ce dimanche que débute la 8è édition de l’Été des chefs BALNEA, une compétition culinaire amicale entre 10 chefs québécois. Le premier plat à être dans la course – et que vous aurez l’occasion de goûter dimanche – sera préparé par la chef Suzie Rainville, copropriétaire du Baumann Smokehouse, à Sherbrooke. Vous pourrez également prendre part au concours organisé pour le public en votant pour votre plat préféré à la fin de l’été, et ainsi avoir la chance de gagner des prix d’une valeur totale de 5 600 $!
Fêter le Canada
Vous pourrez le faire à différents endroits, notamment à North Hatley, Lac-Brome et Sherbrooke le 1er juillet. À Sherbrooke, les festivités se dérouleront au parc Jacques-Cartier toute la journée durant: animation pour les enfants, camions de rue, bar (allez déguster différents cocktails et des bières de la microbrasserie Siboire!), etc. Des spectacles feront vibrer la soirée, notamment celui du groupe Bears of Legend, à 21 h.
Si vous cherchez une façon différente de souligner le 150è anniversaire du Canada, rendez-vous à Compton, au lieu historique national de l’ancien premier ministre du Canada, Louis-S. St-Laurent. Avec le « passeport 2017 », l’accès est gratuit et des activités spéciales sont prévues pour la journée fériée.
Admirer les bateaux-dragons
Si vous n’avez jamais assisté à une course de bateaux-dragons, saisissez votre chance en fin de semaine. En effet, la troisième édition du Festival de bateaux-dragons battra son plein samedi et dimanche, à Lac-Mégantic où 22 équipes compétitionneront au profit de la Maison la Cinquième Saison, soins palliatifs. Croyez-nous, le spectacle vaut largement le détour.
Courir
Dimanche, à l’occasion du demi-marathon RBC de Sherbrooke. Pas game? L’événement, qui en est à sa sixième édition, attire des milliers de coureurs, petits et grands, amateurs et aguerris. Un 21 km à la dernière minute ne vous dit rien? Rabattez-vous alors sur le 10 km ou le 5 km. Pour ce dernier, vous pouvez même vous contenter d’une marche santé. Les 3-12 ans pourront quant à eux emprunter les parcours de 1 ou 2 km. Courir une ville est définitivement une façon unique de la (re)découvrir.
Découvrir le travail de potiers
Faites un deux dans un en découvrant un charmant petit village, Mystic, et le travail de 24 artisans de talent lors de l’événement CéraMystic. Sculptures, objets décoratifs ou pratiques… Vous ferez certainement quelques trouvailles inédites, en plus de baigner dans une atmosphère et un paysage idylliques. Une suggestion: arrêtez-vous à l’Œuf à Mystic pour casser la croûte et faire un crochet à la chocolaterie. Mmm!
Observer les papillons, la nuit
L’Étang Burbank est une petite institution nature reconnue. Tout l’été durant, plusieurs activités s’y déroulent. Ce samedi, de 20 h 30 à 21 h 30, vous pourrez en apprendre un peu (beaucoup!) plus sur les papillons de nuit. Pour marcher, tout simplement, et faire le plein de zénitude, l’endroit est magnifique. À l’instar du village qui l’abrite d’ailleurs, soit Danville, un des neuf Cœurs villageois de la région. Bon à savoir : le marché public Mante du carré – qui fait partie du réseau Cafés de village – est ouvert les samedis entre 10 et 14 h.
