Wotton

Sector Des Sources Population: 1,424

Surrounded by a patchwork of vales and agricultural land, Wotton is proud of its French-Canadian origins and its pioneers who were the first landowners free from the seigniorial system of Lower Canada. Wotton was named in 1849 for a village in Surrey, England. Each summer, the multimedia theatrical portrait Sur les Chemins des Cantons, l’Estrie se raconte presents a journey through time from the year 1700 to today. The village is the birthplace of Maurice O’Bready, who coined the term Estrie. Visit the Centre d’Interpretation de la Vie Catholique en Milieu Rural du Québec. On their ancestor's land, the small-scale producers at the Ferme et Fromagerie La Maison Grise make a wide range of cheeses. The tourist route, country and western festival, winter carnival, cycling trails, and Parc des Érables attract numerous visitors.
