East Angus

Sector Haut-Saint-François

A proud Scottish industrialist, William Angus gave East Angus its industrial vocation, and its name, with the construction of a pulp and paper mill and sawmill on the Saint Francis River. For a long time, the paper industry gave town residents their livelihood. Outdoor concerts are presented in the months of July and August at the Vieille gare du Papier. The Deux Rivières municipal park, the nearby Vallée heureuse du Mont Élan, and the Sentiers de l'Estrie encourage hiking and strolls. A little to the west, in the municipality of Ascot Corner, a visit to the Ferme au Pré Bleu to pick berries and a stop at the Fromagerie DuMatin for its daily fresh curd cheese, are excellent ways to complete your tour of the Haut-Saint-François region.
