East Angus

Sector Haut-Saint-François Population: 3,811

A proud Scottish industrialist, William Angus gave East Angus its industrial vocation, and its name, with the construction of a pulp and paper mill and sawmill on the St. Francis River. For a long time, many residents earned a living through the pulp and paper industry. Outdoor concerts are presented in the months of July and August at the Vieille gare du Papier. Featuring 2500 varieties of perennials, the Jardins Vivaces de Fernand are worth a stop. Make the most of your visit and have a picnic. The Deux Rivières municipal park, the nearby Vallée heureuse du Mont Élan campsites, and the Sentiers de l'Estrie trails are perfect places to take a stroll. A little to the west, in the municipality of Ascot Corner, a visit to the Ferme au Pré Bleu farm to pick berries and a stop at the Fromagerie DuMatin cheese maker for fresh cheddar cheese curds are a great way to top off an excursion in the Haut-Saint-François region.
