Racine

Racine, founded in 1912, took its name from the first bishop of the Diocese of Sherbrooke, Mgr. Racine. A unique and welcoming small community, Racine stands out for its social innovations. These include its food co-op, Brunante Coop, which operates the Marché Locavore local products market, the Maison de la culture, and the Maison du Marché, all avant-garde initiatives that have energized the heart of the village. Racine can be proud to have a village core, an agricultural sector, and a number of lakes: Miller, Brais, Larouche, and Brompton. Proud of its roots, Racine has been organizing one of the region’s largest celebrations of St. Jean Baptiste Day (Quebec’s national holiday) since 1979.
