The Fête des Vendanges… all grape, all the time!
On September 3, 4, 5, 10, and 11, 2011, My Place to Be: the Fête des Vendanges Magog-Orford – to savour, discover, celebrate, and meet event spokesperson, Véronique Cloutier.
New this year
Get out your walking shoes! Magog’s main street, Principale, will be completely closed to traffic. You’ll be able to stroll along and enjoy the Tasting Tour, designed by street merchants to enhance the festival atmosphere. Principale Street, between Merry and Sherbrooke streets, will be open to pedestrians only. Lace up those shoes!
Discoveries
More than a dozen restaurants and as many vineyards are working together to present La table d’hôte Vendanges, a gourmet meal with grape producers onsite. Divine products to discover: bruschetta with Bénédictin blue cheese, cheese balls rolled in crousti-pom (crispy dehydrated apples), three courses featuring different types of grape products, and more. Imagine how they taste! Take advantage of your visit to breathe in the aromas emanating from the Cafés de villages network in the Eastern Townships. These restaurants closely resemble the Cafés de pays in France and offer more than just coffee….
Tastings
The Tasting Fair features products from 150 exhibitors: from wine growers to agri-food producers to craftspeople. During this event, the SAQ’s Bistros invite you to sample delicious Quebec wines and ciders, and local cheeses. Looking to win a Guinness World Record? We’ll just have to see with a mega snack – a giant burger – prepared by Pinocchio to really loosen up your jaws.
Activities
What better way to vent your frustrations than with the old-fashioned technique of grape stomping! Feel your feet just itching to get started? For the younger set, the Halte des petits raisins will offer workshops, recipes to create, and face painting. Merry’s Point will be alive with festive music beginning at noon and continuing throughout the Fête des Vendanges.
Closing
Put aside your colours and take out your whitest whites... to close the event on September 11, the Fête des vendanges invites you to a white picnic – a rustic experience on the shores of Lake Memphremagog.
On September 3, 4, 5, 10, and 11, join the human cluster at the Fête des Vendanges for the “grapest” celebration ever!
