A Palette of Colors in the Eastern Townships

September 3, 2008

To highlight the fall season in colorful style (pun intended!), our mountains offer a range of diverse activities with a single goal in mind – to encourage visitors to soak up the rich, inspiring beauty of Mother Nature.

SUTTON, My Mountain Resort!

In Sutton, visitors can enjoy the annual fall festival - Panoramaduodlacôte – which runs from September 20-October 20. Jump on a ski lift or walk up the hiking trails, right to the top of the mountain. At the peak, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most beautiful panoramas in the whole of the Eastern Townships. Other activities on the program include workshops on such topics such herbs, painting, photography and wild mushrooms. These will be augmented by sessions of  yoga and Tai Chi.

Récolte des couleurs is at Mount Ham and it runs over two weekends – September 20/21 and 27/28. The line-up of activites includes Land Art : Michel Bachelet and Christine Juillard, two professional artists who create stunning pieces in the great outdoors, using found natural objects such as pine needles, rocks and leaves. Under canvas, at this family-oriented event, visitors can also enjoy theatre and live entertainment and see craftspeople displaying their wares.

Flambée des couleurs, a fall festival in Orford, offers a kaleidoscope of activities, staged over four weekends (from September 20). These take place from ground level (Centre d’arts Orford, the Cherry River Marsh and the hamlet of Cherry River), all the way up to the top of Mount Orford. Whether you opt for walking or taking the mechanical lift, stunning views await you at the summit. Owl’s Head too, offers picturesque panoramas and along with Bromont, another major Townships mountain, it celebrates the fall season in its own unique way.
