THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS 2010 SHINES BRIGHT!

2010-11-12, from Chambre de Commerce de Lac Brome

BROME LAKE (Quebec) – From November 27th 2010 to January 1st 2011, Brome Lake is dressing up in its finest decorations and brightest lights in order to offer a magical setting to visitors and citizens alike!

Wrapped in twinkling lights, the trees will give a whole new feeling to the streets of Brome Lake, with the nutcrackers standing guard in front of businesses as traditional music puts the passerby into the holiday spirit.

The changing of the guard

During this festival, about sixty nutcrackers will welcome visitors to various businesses in Brome Lake, starting in West Brome. The changing of the guard will take place on Friday, November 26th 2010 at 10 am in front of the Town Hall. This unique event happens but once a year and is therefore an absolute « must see » event, where many brightly coloured nutcrackers will parade down Lakeside, each taking its place before one of Brome Lake's finest stores. They will be on guard throughout the festival in Brome Lake in order to enhance the experience and atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

The Festival and its activities

This winter festival offers a wide range of activities, which are done in an effort to increase everyone's pleasure in preparing for the Holidays.

The festive atmosphere goes on all night with carollers, bonfires, carriage rides, a wide range of specials, etc., everything to please passers-by and create a unique atmosphere in the region; the Snow Ball, inspired by the great balls of yesteryear (December 18th); the light decoration contest for all business owners in Brome Lake, which will be ongoing throughout the festival; Christmas concerts in various locations throughout Brome Lake; outdoor bonfires from 4 to 6 on Saturdays with hot chocolate and more; a GIANT mail box on Lakeside road for every child's letter to Santa; and much much more!
