SPA EASTMAN CELEBRATES 30 YEARS

2007-04-27, from Member
Eastman, March 21, 2007 – Back in 1977, the idea of a vacation dedicated entirely to relaxation, health and wellbeing was considered to be something of a novelty. Today, as Spa Eastman celebrates its 30th anniversary with special activities, Jocelyna Dubuc has good reason to feel proud. “I know that I was ahead of my time,” recalls Dubuc, the president and founder. “Many people considered I was taking a huge risk but now I’m seeing my dream coming to fruition. Today, more than ever, people need to take care of themselves and get back in touch with what is important in their lives.”

Spa Eastman’s 30th anniversary program continues throughout the year. Anniversary packages, guest speakers, themed weekends, online contests (you can win 30 prizes!) are just a sampling of the celebrations. Vacations (3 to 15-nights) in Spa Eastman’s relaxing, rural setting are also on offer, featuring “cures” and programs designed to encourage spa-goers to get back into shape.

As well, Spa Eastman, in a nod to its early days, is offering a mini-stay (3-day, 2-night) to spa-goers – an anniversary package during which they can sample the spa’s famous grape “cure” or “living” food diet. Throughout the year, nutrition expert Dr. Jean Drouin will be the featured guest speaker during bi-monthly Back to the Source weekends.

For information about Dr. Drouin’s workshops and the Anniversary Package please visit our website: www.spa-eastman.com. Here you’ll also find details about the many activities related to Spa Eastman’s 30th anniversary. Enter our contest online and perhaps, win one of our 30 great prizes!

About Spa Eastman

Surrounded by 315 acres of picturesque, wooded land, Spa Eastman offers breathing space (literally and figuratively!) for stressed-out souls seeking rest and recreation - the ideal venue in which to nourish your body, where the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle is ingrained in the philosophy of owner Jocelyna Dubuc and her staff. With 43 rooms housed in a complex of seven “pavilions”, Spa Eastman is a veritable health “village” - a community of wellbeing where you can unwind and be pampered in a tranquil, rural setting. Surrounded by stunning scenery and 15 kilometres of trails that wind past rivers, ponds and mature trees, the spa offers guests endless opportunities to hike or go cross-country skiing. Outdoor activities are augmented by daily fitness classes featuring a variety of disciplines – Pilates, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Yoga and Swiss Ball Training, to name a few.

More/….
Spa Eastman employs a team of professional fitness experts who can customize programs for guests, helping them to boost their energy levels and cope with stress. They teach them the importance of exercise and of taking the time to enjoy leisure activities. With the help of these qualified coaches, spa-goers learn how to regain their feeling of well-being and to get back in touch with their inner selves. Naturopaths are also on hand to help spa-goers get back on track, through consultations and customized fitness and lifestyle regimes. Guests are armed with effective tools to incorporate into their daily routine, quickly attaining their goal of living in a more healthy manner.

Awards

In 2006, Le Spa Eastman à votre table won the prestigious gold medal at the Canadian Culinary Book Award. The gourmet fare offered at Spa Eastman features fresh organic produce - whole-wheat flour and cereals, pure maple syrup, honey and the like. The chef, like the other employees of the spa, is an expert in his field and he can design menus geared towards specific dietary needs such as vegetarian dishes or meals adapted to certain blood groups. To augment the delicious menu choices, guests can choose from a selection of organically produced red and white wines.

In 2001, Spa Eastman’s reputation for healthy, natural cuisine won it accreditation as a member of the exclusive Destination Spa Group, the only spa to be thus honored in Eastern Canada. The Destination Spa Group has strict joining policies. Would-be members must adhere to universal norms governing educational health programs, food preparation, stress management and so on and there only 25 members worldwide, representing a mere one percent of destination spas across the globe.

Another acknowledgement of Spa Eastman’s prestige is its ranking among the best spas in the world. For the third year in a row, it has been listed in 100 Best Spas in the World authored by Bernard Burt and Pamela Joy Price. Of the five Canadian establishments reviewed in the book, Spa Eastman is the only one from Quebec.

The spas and our mission

While Spa Eastman has never stopped evolving down the years, it has always held firm to its core values. “Our overriding mission is to improve the quality of life for our clients,” emphasizes Jocelyna Dubuc. “We show them how to deal with stress and illustrate tangible ways in which they can nourish themselves, by promoting the benefits of relaxation, healthy food and the therapeutic benefits of body treatments.”

Dubuc’s philosophy carries through to Spa Eastman’s sister spas - Spa Eastman Montreal which is situated in the heart of the city and Spa Eastman Ile des Soeurs on Nun’s Island. Both offer a complete range of therapeutic treatments focusing on esthetics and relaxation. Clients, who have undergone a cure at Spa Eastman, can follow up on their regimes, through the monitoring services offered by the spa’s naturopaths and nutrition experts.
