St-Laurent puts on its Sunday best / Skarazula

2007-07-11, from Member
COMPTON,  July 11, 2007 – On Sunday, July 22, 2007, at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., the St-Laurent family’s garden will reverberate with the medieval, Celtic and oriental music of the trio Skarazula. This activity is presented in collaboration with the Louis S. St. Laurent National Historic Site’s Companions.

The Skarazula group’s repertoire includes stirring pieces featuring the sounds of yesteryear, recreated by young people of today. For the past several years, these musicians have been cultivating their interest in ancient music and pursuing their research into the rich and fascinating world of medieval music. Skarazula’s musicians play on a variety of instruments; bearing exotic names and built for the most part by the group’s stringed-instrument maker, they add great richness to the group’s music. Whether interpreting their own compositions or revisiting traditional pieces, Skarazula’s three musicians bring the same passion and talent to their performances.

Visitors are also invited to take advantage of this special day to picnic in the St. Laurent family’s magnificent garden. The St-Laurent puts on its Sunday best summer program continues until Sunday, September 2, 2007. For further details, please visit: www.pc.gc.ca/st-laurent
