Bonheur d’hiver 2008

2008-10-17, from Member
Sherbrooke – For the 9th consecutive year, Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre is proud to present Bonheur d’hiver, our annual “prelude to winter” collective exhibit. The 2008 edition of this popular event brings together the work of ten Eastern Townships artists and artisans. The public is cordially invited to meet the artists during the vernissage on Sunday, November 2, between 2 and 4 pm at Uplands, 9 Speid St. in the borough of Lennoxville. Bonheur d’hiver will run until December 20, 2008.

Bonheur d’hiver is a whimsical exhibit sure to tantalize your senses through the diversity of mediums, the quality of the participating artists, and the cozy ambience of the site. This year, the ten participants from the region chosen by the Uplands Exhibition Committee include painters, potters, wood carvers, angel creators, and stained glass artisans.

The artists of Bonheur

Monique Vanier-Quine (Magog) – Painting on silk
Gilles Rousseau (Magog) – Watercolour
Lucy Doheny (Lennoxville) – Pottery
Normand Bernier (Stanstead) - Assemblage and sculpture assemblage
Dany Nadeau (Sherbrooke) – Oil
Michèle Atkinson (St. Lambert) – Oil
Francine Mercier & Oscar Bajofer (La Patrie) – Stained glass
Debbie Everett (Lennoxville)– Wood sculpture

Bonheur d’hiver is more than an exhibit, it is also an art sale, the perfect occasion to buy something for yourself or as a gift for a loved one in the pre-Christmas season. What better way to soften winter’s chill than with a unique piece of art lovingly crafted in a local studio!

Opening hours

The beginning of the festive winter season is an ideal time to visit Uplands and experience the grandeur of a Georgian-style mansion decked out in its holiday finery. Be sure to stop in for the Victorian Tea on Saturday, December 6th, or any other weekend afternoon for our regular tea service. Relax with a steaming cup of tea in the gallery while enjoying the pleasing and diverse array of artistic works surrounding you.

Uplands is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The centre is located at 9 Speid Street in the borough of Lennoxville (Sherbrooke).
