When sleeping becomes an experience…

When sleeping turns into an experience… Tempted to go glamping, stay in a Hobbit house, or sleep in a tree house or a yurt? The option of staying in any of these unusual accommodations is available in the Eastern Townships!

Tourism is evolving and types of accommodation along with it. Whether you’re tempted to go glamping, live in a treegloo or troglo, or sleep in a tree house, yurt, teepee, or ecolodge, you can enjoy such an experience in the Eastern Townships. Rustic, unusual, or ecological accommodations… it takes all kinds to make a world, the saying goes, and, here, the choice is yours!

Entre Cimes et Racines, Eastman

The featured lodging at Entre Cimes et Racines is its ecolodge, the Troglo, a spectacular hobbit-looking house. Now you can stay in a troglodyte dwelling of Tolkien influence, with circular windows and a roof of vegetation. The Troglo is worthy of The Lord of the Rings. Also on site is the ecolodge La Pierre de Feu.
Located in a hill on the estate, this ecolodge was built in a rock and covered with vegetation.

Sleeping at the Granby Zoo, Granby

After dark, great predators stretch their muscles, and herbivores, on the lookout, point their ears in every direction. While campers slowly slip into slumber, all of the wildlife awakens. “The Zoo at Night” activity provides an adventure involving from 25 to 30 participants, for a stay at the Granby Zoo in the dark of night. You will be accompanied by three guides and 1000 animals, from the site’s closure to its reopening the next morning.

Les Côteaux Missisquoi, Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton

Located on more than 165 acres of land, Les Côteaux Missisquoi offers visitors in search of a revitalizing experience several ecolodges and yurts in the heart of nature. Surrounded by mountains, hills, creeks, and wetlands, during a stay here, you will find yourself entranced by the beautiful sunsets!

Au Diable Vert, Glen Sutton

Two types of accommodation are available: shelters in the trees four or five metres above ground level, equipped with a wood stove and beds, and treegloos, dome-shaped shelters resembling an igloo, installed on a risen platform. Inspired by the many portable shelters of nomad peoples, staying in a treegloo is a unique experience. The treegloo is a cross between a prospector tent and a cabin. It has no insulation but is completely waterproof.

Vallée heureuse du Mont Élan, Westbury

You can enjoy a glamping experience, i.e., luxury camping, just 20 minutes from Sherbrooke, in the Haut-Saint-François area.  Here, an enchanting brook wanders through a beautiful valley flanked by two mountains. Accommodation options include a North-American yurt, a Wi-tent (half yurt, half teepee), a prospector’s camp, a Scandinavian shelter, or a cottage. The Wi-tent is a totally innovative concept. Designed in Quebec, it is an EXCLUSIVE product in the Eastern Townships. With four-season insulation, it can accommodate up to 6 people. The Wi-tent is a hybrid between a yurt and an American teepee, making it an original concept.

Zoobox, immerse yourself in nature at Le Vertendre, Eastman

With the Zoobox, Le Vertendre d’Eastman provides a new way to experience a stay in nature. Energy self-sufficient, with a flat roof and a modern look, the Zoobox is a private loft of about 34 m2, which can accommodate 4 people. The bed and bathtub can be rolled out onto the porch to fully enjoy the intimate environment. You can even generate your own electricity using a bicycle.

O’Kataventures Station, Mansonville

O’Kataventures Station is an outdoors company that serves a clientele keen on nature. The yurt, originating from Mongolia, combines charm with rusticity. Its round shape inspires relaxation and its skylight enables you to look at the stars. It is furnished and fully equipped.

Aux Tipis de la Rivière Sauvage, St-Romain, Megantic Region

Looking for an unusual sleeping experience? This site provides unusual accommodations in rustic but comfortable wooden teepees. It has four teepees set up for all seasons, and is positioned next to the legendary Rivière Sauvage.

EXP. Cabins in the Parc National du Mont-Mégantic

The Parc National du Mont-Mégantic has seven EXP. cabins that provide a comfortable stay in nature in a wooden building with sleek lines and large windows. These units for two people were designed to maximize the use of space. A version for four people is also available. The EXP. cabins are electrically heated and have a well-equipped kitchen, a woodstove, a toilet, and a shower. A hammock installed on the screened porch will be appreciated on mild days. Since the Parc National du Mont-Mégantic is located in the heart of the first International Dark Sky Reserve, the EXP. Cabins, which are named after planets, have a skylight to gaze at the stars just before going to sleep.

Ready-to-camp Huttopia

Discover the joys of camping without having to bring all your gear. This brand new tourism product in a natural setting is perfect for any person or family who loves nature, but lacks camping gear. Simple, comfortable, and authentic, the Huttopia tent is perfectly integrated into the environment. Made of canvas like a traditional tent, the Huttopia tent has two separate rooms, and several common spaces. Discover the Huttopia tents in our four national parks and soon in the very first Huttopia village.
