Agricultural Fairs

Interested in rural life? Keen to learn more about it and enjoy yourself at the same time? In August and September, Eastern Townships agricultural fairs celebrate country life and invite city folks to the farm.

There are must-sees at every country fair. Visitors go to admire Quebec’s top animals in competition, get a close look at farm animals, and watch events like horse and tractor pulls, demonstrations, and shows. Country fairs also have a carnival atmosphere with midway booths, games, and rides. These are common to all agricultural exhibitions. However, Eastern Townships fairs have a little something that makes them the most popular in Quebec.

Quebec’s oldest agricultural fair takes place in Bedford. This year’s 192th edition will be held from August 6 to 9. For more infos, click here.

Coaticook is the largest milk-producing region in the Eastern Townships. It’s not surprising that the Coaticook Valley Fair, from August 6 to 9, is located in one of the region’s most beautiful rural areas – the perfect place for Jersey, Canadienne, Holstein, and other breeds of dairy cattle to excel. This is an ideal occasion to savour dairy and other regional products.

Cookshire-Eaton is the site of the Compton County Agricultural Society’s agricultural exhibition, from August 20 to 23. Many onsite activities and special features are planned, including street performers.

The Ayer's Cliff Agricultural Fair will be celebrating its 170th edition this year from August 27 to 30. Driving competitions with horses and wagons and carriages, horse racing, and carnival games are on the program.

The Brome Agricultural Fair attracts more than 45 000 visitors every year. The largest rural celebration in the Eastern Townships, it will be held in the village of Brome from September 4 to 7. Its grand parade is not to be missed.

Finally, the Richmond Agricultural Fair, taking place from September 10 to 13, will offer a broad range of entertaining activities for all ages. There will be free midway rides, various bands and dancing, truck and tractor pulls, demonstrations, and lots more!

Looking for a taste of country living? The agricultural fairs in the Eastern Townships will be pleased to welcome you.
