Enjoy the Townships air… for an exceptional summer

Take the trails of discovery

And explore our hiking trails, four provincial parks (Orford, Frontenac, Mégantic, and Yamaska), the Marais de la Rivière aux Cerises marsh in Magog, the Sentiers poétiques (French poetry trails) in Saint-Venant-de-Paquette, the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook, and the Summit Drive covering a distance of 157 km over several mountains to enjoy the heights.

Pedal the Eastern Townships

Travel along our bike paths and country roads. For mountain biking enthusiasts, as of July, Owl’s Head will be offering 12 km of trails and a lift. Cycling climbers will be thrilled with Ski Bromont. And how about pedalling in the treetops on the VéloVolant (canopy cycle) at the Diable Vert in Glen Sutton ?

Fall under the spell of seductive Sherbrooke

You’ll be entranced by the Canada Games taking place here in August, the city’s Marché de la gare (public market), busier than ever during the summer; the Séquence 8 extravaganza performed by the Sept doigts de la main circus company; the great restaurants and bistros; the many murals and museums; the Concerts de la Cité (free outdoor concerts); and much more.

Travel by boat or by train

For a unique travel experience, take the Orford Express, which will head down the tracks and in no time delight you with its gourmet meals served on board and its breathtaking landscapes. Brand new this year, the tourist train will travel from Magog to its new destination: Bromont. Or, for a different outing, let yourself be lulled aboard the Grand Cru, a fabulous boat for an excursion on Lake Memphremagog! The mountain views and the sunsets will make your cruise memorable.

We’re making waves

You’ll be impressed by all of the activities offered at the Ski Bromont Water Park, and the lake waves being made along the beaches in Magog, North Hatley, Sherbrooke, Brome Lake, Baldwin’s Mills, Lac Mégantic, etc. where you can rent various types of watercraft.

Head this way for culture… and history

Discover the history of the Eastern Townships through the granite of Stanstead, the slate of Richmond, the woollen mill in Ulverton, the copper mine in North Hatley, and follow the Townships Trail, which will take you into picturesque villages, by small churches, and to museums. And then there are all of the events and festivals that celebrate the art of living in the Eastern Townships!

From the earth to the table

Savour the treats available from our region’s Créateurs de saveurs (flavour creators); regional producers who invite you to stop to taste the products from their soil; the Wine Route in the Brome-Missisquoi area, which is home to great wineries ready to welcome you for a tasting or a picnic, as well as the recently created Route des vins de l’Estrie, featuring the vineyards of Magog, Sherbrooke, Compton, and Ulverton; the public markets where local products are the highlight; the Cafés de village showcasing the beauty and flavours of their villages; and our Chefs créateurs who prepare menus that you won’t soon forget.

Sleep in a hobbit-inspired dwelling at Entre Cimes et Racines domain, discover the first International Dark Sky reserve at Mont Mégantic, cross the longest suspended footbridge in the world in Coaticook, and inhale the magic of lavender with all your senses at Bleu Lavande in Fitch Bay. These are but a few of the attractions that are sure to appeal to you.
