THE TOWNSHIPS… NATURE PLAIN AND SIMPLE

Parks and outdoor activity centres

Some people prefer the untouched wilderness, while others prefer a natural environment that has already been tamed. Both realms exist in the Townships. New and experienced outdoor enthusiasts, adventure-seekers, and the more contemplative among us will easily find the perfect spot. Nature lovers will be delighted by the fact that there is such a rich diversity of plants and wildlife within one region.

Immerse yourself in nature from the earth to the stars in one of our four provincial parks—Parc national du Mont-Mégantic, Parc national de Frontenac, Parc national du Mont-Orford, or Parc national de la Yamaska; regional parks, such as the Parc régional du Mont-Ham, providing a spectacular 360-degree view from the summit; or outdoor activity centres. Some sites offer activities that are off the beaten track… such as VéloVolant’s aerial bike adventures or even a night under the stars in a Zoobox or an EXP cabin. The Summit Drive, located in the heart of the first international dark sky reserve, features exceptional panoramic views. The Eastern Townships’ groomed and back-country trails are a hiking and cycling paradise. Consult our maps to find the route that most appeals to you.

The beautiful scenery of the Eastern Townships makes horseback riding even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned rider, plan a horseback excursion at the Centre d’équitation Jacques Robidas, the Bromont Equestrian Center, the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook, Écurie Les Chevaux du Roy or Ranch Winslow.

The area, brimming with lakes, rivers, and beaches, is the perfect place to enjoy water sports, such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or sailing. From the Rivière aux Cerises marsh to Lake Stukely, Lake Massawippi, and Lake Memphremagog, there are plenty of places to frolic in the water. Unless you’d prefer a short outing on a pirogue, pontoon, or cruise boat….

Regardless of the activity you choose, if you’re feeling peckish or keen to discover our local products, close by you’ll find a dairy bar, Café de village (village café), Créateur de saveurs (flavour creator), or Chef créateur (creative chef)… the region is so focused on great food!
