In the Townships, we even bike in the winter

Snow Biking (Fatbike)

Sherbrooke, Coaticook, Bromont, and Sutton are all biking… on snow. Snow biking (fat biking) first appeared in Sherbrooke last year. Two sites were set up for those who refuse to put away their bikes for the winter and those who want to enjoy a unique experience. It’s a bit like mountain biking… but on snow, and in the middle of winter.

Sherbrooke offers something for everyone.

The Base plein air André-Nadeau offers beginner and intermediate trails. Snow bike rentals are available onsite. This winter activity can be combined with snow tubing, skating, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The Parc du Mont-Bellevue’s trails provide thrills for more experienced and athletic bikers. You may bring your own equipment or take advantage of the daily rental options offered in some Sherbrooke shops.

The Base plein air André-Nadeau is the perfect place to discover snow biking and the Parc du Mont-Bellevue is ideal for fully experiencing it.

The Parc de la Gorge in Coaticook offers 10 km of fat biking trails, for bikes with very wide tires. Don’t forget to make a reservation before going snow biking.

In Bromont, you’ll find 8 km of snow biking trails at both the Centre national de cyclisme and on Bromont’s mountain trails, the Sentiers du Massif. A trailblazer in winter mountain biking competitions in Quebec, the Centre national de cyclisme is organizing the events for the Mahikan Race circuit to be held on January 30 and 31, 2016. Over 100 snow bikers will participate in this race.

In Sutton, Plein air Sutton and Mount Sutton also offer snow biking trails.

Who would have thought you could ride a bike on snow in the middle of winter? Sherbrooke, Coaticook, Bromont, and Sutton did.
