Enjoy the summer… indoors!

Musée des Beaux-Arts de Sherbrooke

Updated on Oct 30, 2023

Too cold? No sunshine? Don’t feel like playing outside? No worries. We’ve rounded up some great ideas to make the most of the season while staying inside (read: toasty and warm).

Day at the Museum

From special activities to workshops, films and more, many museums are breaking out of their traditional role in favour of hands-on educational entertainment—much the delight of little (and not so little) ones! This is the case at the Musée de l'ingéniosité J.Armand Bombardier with the several exhibitions and activities. Also, the Musée d'histoire de Sherbrooke, formerly under the name of the Société d'histoire de Sherbrooke, presents the exhibition Mémoires sherbrookoises so you can discover the city in a different way.

Play inside

Shoot, putt or play? Take your pick from Laser Plus, Laser Game Evolution (Sherbrooke), Glo Golf (Coaticook) or the indoor fun center of Karting Orford. For something a bit more cerebral, try Sherbrooke’s Escaparium, where you and loved ones race against the clock to solve riddles and earn clues. Not afraid of heights?

Climbing the Walls

Are you itching to work your muscles? Head inside to the Backbone climbing centre in Bromont. Here you’ll find 16-foot-high bouldering walls on which you’ll be able to climb without using a rope or harness because their very thick mats will absorb your eventual falls! It’s also an excellent place to simply spend some time with a fine community of passionate people, grab a bite to eat or enjoy a cup of espresso!

Boutiques for Browsing

Shop in the Townships’ beautiful boutiques: The Grange du parfumeur to discover new scents, Savonnerie des Diligences for their scented body care products; Boutique des métiers d’art de l’Estrie to acquire unique and original pieces ; Boho coffee shop in Granby for some gift ideas and to savour a delicious dessert with a cup of coffee… Plus, many more shops you'll discover right here.

Succumb to your sweet tooth

The Laiterie de Coaticook for ice cream, the Confiserie Bromont for chocolate, Chocolats Vanden Eynden in Magog for even more chocolate, Saveurs et Gourmandises in North Hatley for pastries, Érablière Bernard in Granby for anything maple… No matter what type of treat you’re craving, you’re sure to find it in our region.

Night at the Hotel or at the B&B

Whether you’re across the world or across town, spending the night in a hotel or a B&B always feels like being on vacation. Throw a heated indoor pool into the mix and the idea of staying in for 24 or 48 hours doesn’t sound too bad. In fact, it sounds like paradise!

Just say spa-ahh

Although not 100% indoors, a spa is a wonderful way to spend the day alone or with a significant other —and you’re sure to stay warm!
