Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing

Kilometres of fun for snowshoers and cross-country skiers

Imagine hundreds of kilometres to snowshoe and cross-country ski through – with landscapes varying from open to dense forests and wide, open spaces, bordered by incredibly beautiful scenery… Marked snowshoe and cross-country ski trails criss-cross our four provincial parks, as well as outdoor recreational centres and local parks scattered throughout the Eastern Townships.

Come winter, the Parc national du Mont-Mégantic is transformed into a snow-covered magical forest with its 30 km of snowshoeing trails for all levels and a 38-km route for cross-country skiers. Several shelters can be found along the way to warm up or spend the night. Snowshoers can also take a shuttle (beginning in February) to reach the top and then make their way down via a 5-km trail. For a truly unique experience, the Torch-Light Snowshoeing Package lets you combine astronomy, evening snowshoeing, and a healthy meal. Other From Snow to the Stars packages are also available.

The Parc national du mont Orford, long renowned for the quality of its trails, offers 13 cross-country trails 50 km in length and 25 km for ski skating. The park is also a great place to snowshoe with its choice of 10 routes from 2.5 to 16 km in length. The Parc national de Frontenac invites snowshoers to enjoy its network of three trails over 12 kilometres. For Nordic skiing, head to the Saint-Daniel and Sud sectors. Incidentally, there are also two cottages and a rustic camp available to nature enthusiasts. The Parc national de la Yamaska is ideal for less experienced snowshoers with its three easy-level marked trails covering a distance of 10.5 km and various routes taking cross-country skiers through fir stands, pine forests, and maple groves.
