The history of the Eastern Townships is deeply shaped by its British and American heritage. Follow the footsteps of the region’s earliest settlers—Americans, Loyalists, Scots, and Irish who arrived at the end of the 18th century and throughout the 19th century. Their influence can still be seen today in the landscapes, the architecture, and the cultural fabric of the area.

Along the Townships Trail, you’ll travel through 31 towns and villages filled with character where you’ll find Victorian homes, round barns, covered bridges, museums, churches, interpretation centres, and many other historical gems. Keep your eyes wide open this journey takes you through a living heritage unlike anywhere else in Québec.
