What to do this weekend – June 19-21

This weekend, the Townships are swinging into action! A number of tourist attractions and restaurants are finally reopening their doors for the summer season. Coming up as well are online concerts and a virtual festival.

Restaurants and patios are opening!

Hurrah! Restaurateurs are now permitted to welcome diners to their establishments – inside and outside! Take your time and savour the flavour of a delicious regional dish served at one of the region’s many eateries. Looking for a patio restaurant? Here are some suggestions.

Visit the 1,500 residents of the Granby Zoo

Yippee! The zoo is opening again this Saturday, June 20. Rediscover your favourite animals as you explore the four ‘continents’ that are laid out around the animal park. There are some fresh things to discover as well – the brand new hippo habitat (from the end of July) and Louis and Kuchimba, a couple of recently arrived Western Lowland gorillas.

Tickets must be purchased online.

A great lineup of performers at Musiparc Bromont

Ever heard of the « Musiparc »? Well, it’s similar to a drive-in movie, but instead of a film, you watch a live show from your car as entertainers strut their stuff on a giant screen! Starting June 23, there will be a great seasonal lineup on the Musipark Bromont stage that includes Dany Bédar, Bleu Jeans Bleu, France D'Amour, Kaïn, Brigitte Boisjoli and Bruno Pelletier.

Wander the fragrant grounds of Bleu Lavande

The lavender farm and boutique, situated near the village of Fitch Bay, is opening for the season on Friday, June 19. Whether you picnic in the fields, search for scented products in the boutique or simply stop by while exploring the countryside on your bike or in your car, you’re sure to be seduced by the sights and smells of this charming venue. And you can take advantage of Bleu Lavande’s special deal – namely that access to the site will be free of charge for the entire summer!

Scale the heights in the Eastern Townships

Fancy a challenge? Pull on your hiking books and conquer one of the region’s highest peaks. Sheer climbs, breathtaking views, long treks, very few other people…. features that characterize many of our mountain ranges. To help you decide on a destination, take a look at our article outlining the highest summits of the Townships.

Enjoy an online festival or a virtual concert

Festival Cinéma du Monde de Sherbrooke (FCMS)
From June 18-25, Sherbrooke’s festival of films from around the world will be running an online version of this annual event. Movie buffs can watch 10 feature films for free - all from the comfort of their living rooms!

Centre d'art de Richmond
On Saturday (8:30pm) the Richmond Art Centre will be presenting a virtual concert, performed by the Bears of Legend, who play a blend of folk/classical and progressive rock music. Buy your tickets here.
