What to do this weekend – April 16-18

An outing to an ice-cream parlour? A shopping trip through town? A pre-dinner glass of maple-infused beer? An outing by bike? Just some ideas on offer in the Townships this weekend!

Pedal along the paved cycle paths

Most of the gravel bike trails will not be accessible until May 1, but in the meantime, the paved trails are already open. The Boucle de La Magog in downtown Sherbrooke and most of the Estriade cycle trail (it links Waterloo and Granby) are two examples – ideal routes for launching your season of cycling. Time to hop on the saddle!

Sample your first ice cream of the season

The arrival of the warmer weather often triggers the desire for a large, mouthwatering ice cream! Throughout the Townships are a slew of ice-cream parlours and dairies offering flavours galore – vanilla, chocolate, orange, raspberry, cherry, sorbet and gelato, served in cones or in tubs. Guaranteed to satisfy your strongest cravings…..

Indulge in some retail therapy

Does springtime bring out your ‘inner shopper’? Head to one of these five Townships destinations and stroll along their main streets to window shop or better still, indulge in some retail therapy. Perhaps you’ll be able to find that ‘special something’ for yourself or someone else?

Maple-flavoured beer anyone?

Unusual though that sounds, it’s not surprising to find it here, in maple-producing country! Sample a pre-dinner maple brew on your terrasse while soaking up the late afternoon sun…

Le Point Visible – a quilt maker with a difference!

Maryline Armand has had a passion for quilting ever since she was a little girl and at her studio in Bedford, she creates colourful, unique bed covers and other quilted items – veritable works of art and a far cry from the era of our grandmothers.
