What to do this weekend – July 20-22

You could probably sit at home, do nothing and just relax…. but….when you see what’s going on in the Townships this weekend, we’re sure you’ll change your mind!

Party time with the mascots!

One of Granby’s major summer gatherings is La Fête des mascottes – Mascoto. Featuring costumed mascots, it’s five days of fun and festivities for the entire family and it takes place downtown, from July 18-22. Wearing a colourful hat will bring an avalanche of hugs from the mascots!

Fête du Lac des nations

This hugely popular festival is now in its 37th year. Staged at the Jacques Cartier Park in Sherbrooke, it winds up on Sunday. In addition to activities for kids, there will be gourmet food stalls, crackling fireworks (sure to provoke shrieks of joy from young and old), and live entertainment – lots of live entertainment! Shows will feature Marjo, Fred Fortin, the Best of Pink Floyd Show, La Chicane and The Lost Fingers. As in previous years, a truly terrific line-up!

Revisit Foresta Lumina

This magical forest – i.e. the illuminated Coaticook Gorge - has quickly become one of the region’s must-see attractions. Perhaps you’ve already walked around it? Even if you have, do plan to return, because the trail, animated by sound and light, has been upgraded and extended. For further information, read the blog written by our intern, Camille Provencher!

The opening of Maison Merry

This museum, the former home of the pioneering Merry family, opens on Sunday. It documents the life of the local citizenry, as well as the history of the town and of the region, through a series of artefacts and interactive exhibits.

Chill out at one of the most beautiful terrasses….

According to the person in charge of our social media, the bistro, La Buvette du Centro, has one of the most attractive terrasses in Sherbrooke. It’s far from the only one. There are many other patio eateries around the region that are equally appealing.
