This weekend there will be several great outdoor activities to enjoy with the kids – three winter festivals, a visit to a museum and an activity designed for night owls or perhaps early risers!
This weekend, during Magog’s Snow Festival, Merry Point will be transformed into a veritable winter playground. The snowfest will feature a dazzling array of attractions and activities – tubing, skating, skijoring (skiing while being towed by a horse), snow soccer, zip lining, ice fishing, snow sculptures, Fat Biking, yoga and zumba sessions, inflatable games, a Ferris wheel, a food ‘village’, live entertainment and much more besides….. Everything, in short, to keep a family happy for hours! Best of all, access to the site and the attractions are all free.
Saturday, February 2 and Sunday February 3, from 10am-4 :30pm at Merry Point, Magog
On first Saturday of each month, the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts organises a guided tour of its temporary exhibitions. Currently, museum-goers can view the following two exhibits - La révolution Borduas : espaces et liberté (featuring the work of revolutionary Quebec painter Paul Émile Borduas) and Dominique Valade. Tenis en main le fil…. (the experimental, hybrid images of Dominique Valade). Strolling around the museum offers an ideal opportunity to spend quality time with your family and in the process, introduce your kids to the world of art.
Saturday, February 2, at 1 :30pm. Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts. Cost : $10 (adults) and $4 (children).
As part of Valcourt’s Festi-Val en neige, a local winter festival, the Museum of Ingenuirty J. Armand Bombardier is organising Mordus de l’hiver – a day designed for winter lovers. The line-up of attractions includes snowmobile rides, snow slides, inflatable games, a parade of snowmobiles (and other motorised winter vehicles), an exhibition and presentation (with commentary), of antique snowmobiles. In the middle of the afternoon, there will be a thrilling display of snowmobiles and riders performing acrobatic tricks! For further details, check out the Mordus de l’hiver schedule.

This coming Saturday, Bromont is organizing a Nuit Blanche (White Night). As well as being able to ski until the wee small hours of the morning skiers can enjoy live entertainment with Valaire and Clay and Friends at the base of the mountain. The party atmosphere will be just great!
Are you an early bird ? Well then, you’ll love First Tracks, an event being organised by Mont Orford on Sunday morning. Skiers will have the opportunity to hit the slopes from 7am-8 :30am, before the ski centre opens to the general public. After enjoying a couple of runs in pristine conditions, you can tuck into a brunch at the Slalom Pub, which is situated in the ski chalet.

The second edition of Célébrons l’hiver - a festival celebrating the joys of winter - kicks off this weekend at Mont Ham Regional Park. (It continues through the next three weekends in February.) Saturday features an introduction to cross-country skiing, aimed at children aged 4-12. Equipment is provided free of charge and instructors will be on site. On Sunday, the park is running a breakfast conference on the benefits of physical exercise during the winter.
