This weekend you’ll have an embarrassment of riches in the Eastern Townships – an outing along Compton’s culinary route, the chance to enjoy the fall colours at the top of the mountains, a heart-pumping run in Lac Megantic, the sound of cool jazz in Sutton or a visit to a winery. It’ll be pretty hard to choose between them don’t you think?
Six venues and more than 50 food producers and artisans are participating in this weekend’s Comptonales, a gourmet food fest in Compton. A shuttle bus (it’s free of charge) will transport you around the various venues - Domaine Ives Hill, Verger Gros Pierre, Verger Ferland, Fromagerie La Station, Érablière du village and the Lions Park. A great selection of gourmet tastings awaits visitors – delicious goodies that are the products of the local terroir. Here is a preview of the event.
Don’t miss the cocktail party (with nibblies) that opens the event on October 4. (Reservations required.)
October 5 and 6 (10am-5pm) │ A ‘passport’ and food tasting coupons available at each venue │ Compton
What better place to chill out, contemplate Mother Nature and breathe in the fresh, crisp air of autumn, than at the summit of Mont-Orford? A yoga session is going to be held on Saturday morning and you can get to the top either by walking up one of the ski trails (warming up your muscles en route) or getting into a Zen frame of mind by riding the gondola and just gazing out at the scenery ($).
Saturday, October 5 (10:30am- 11:30am) │ At the summit of Mont-Orford │ Tickets available online - $5
This is the last weekend of the Festival de Jazz – Sutton’s Jazz Festival. There will be two major shows at the salle Alec et Gérard Pelletier, performed by Dawn Tyler Watson and the Mario Allard Quintet ($). If you’re looking for something a bit more intimate that doesn’t cost a thing, you’ll find it at a number of other venues including the Auberge Sutton Microbrewery, the Pleasant Hôtel & Café and at Mont SUTTON.
October 4 (8pm) : Mario Allard Quintet and October 5 (8pm): Dawn Tyler Watson │ Tickets available online │ Sutton
This weekend and next weekend, you can enjoy Owl’s Head en couleurs – a celebration of the fall colours at Owl’s Head. Hiking trails, rides on the ski lift to the summit of the mountain ($), a craft fair, inflatable games for kids, barbecued food and live entertainment – a great fall outing for the entire family!

This Sunday, runners can participate in a half-marathon race in Lac Megantic. The route is divided into distances of 5, 10 and 21 kilometres and even kids can take part. For them there is a 1-kilometre Color Run at the end of an exhilarating day.
Sunday, October 6, from 9am │ Parc de l’OTJ in Lac Megantic.
At this time of the year, our regional wineries take on a festive air and they invite visitors to participate in the activities of the season – picking and crushing the grapes and of course, tasting the delicious end product!
Watch our video starring the co-owner of the Vignoble Le Cep d’Argent, Jean-Paul Scieur, during which he demonstrates the correct way to sample wine. Cheers!
