Leela Gilday | Chants Traditionnels Dénée

This event is over.
Aug 7, 2019

The workshop will focus on Dene (Indigenous First Nations) storytelling through music. Music has always been an important part of Indigenous expression.

Since culture is fluid Leela Gilday takes a contemporary form of musical expression, guitar, folksongs, and incorporates them into her personal method of storytelling. Songwriting has been the way in which she communicates her northern realities and Dene identity to the world.

This workshop will provide an in-depth look at the the stories, history and context behind some of her songs.
