Oct 17, 2021 ~ Apr 30, 2022
From May 30th, 2021 to April 30th, 2022.
The exhibit presents 49 vibrant photographs by artist Gabriel Safdie on 22 large panels.
The panels focus on a selection of exemplary ceremonies and rituals that are still practised today in such countries as Myanmar, Thailand, India, and China. These photographs are meant to celebrate the diversity and richness of these cultures at the same time as they call for a heartfelt expression of sympathy for all those who continue courageously to endure persecution and hardship within these countries.
Gabriel Safdie is a writer who taught literature and creative writing for years and is also involved in photography, theatre and music. He has shown largely in Canada and China, where he has some success. He is scheduled for further exhibits in Montreal and will show again in Dalian (China) in the coming year. The “Centre des arts de Stanstead” that he and his wife Eva Juul founded in 2008 includes the very successful community gallery “Le vieux forgeron” that promotes artists from Stanstead, the Townships and beyond.
- October 17th, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.: The artist behind the photographs that currently enliven our wooded area will be at Uplands to meet you and answer your questions!
Please note that in view of the present situation, many events have been cancelled or postponed. We suggest that you inform yourself before leaving home.
Tourism Eastern Townships
2 metres, 20 seconds, a face covering... You know the drill. This summer, we all need to do our part to make this vacation season both enjoyable and responsible.
(In fact, I can even stand apart.)
(Anyways in #touristmode, I'm in no hurry!)
(Ring ahead to avoid the crowd... it’s that simple!)
(I promise... this is no time to joke around.)
Together - For a safe vacation - Let’s be responsible.
