The Perseids… under the stars!

The Perseids… under the stars!

The Perseids are among the oldest meteor showers. Visible in mid-August, these streams of shooting stars appear to come from the Perseus constellation, making them known as the “Perseids.”

Mont-Mégantic National Park

From August 9 to 13, bring your lounge chairs and blankets to spend the night with the Perseids at Parc national du Mont-Mégantic. Since the best view requires the least light pollution, it’s not surprising that the first International Dark Sky Reserve is a very popular observation site for this event.

The ASTROLab offers various options for you to get an eyeful: a multimedia presentation on the Perseids, observation with the naked eye or through a telescope, a guided tour of or observation from the Velan Observatory, an after-dark hike, the interactive cosmos in the Cosmolab, or a climb up to the Mont-Mégantic Observatory, and a night under falling stars.

Those who require a comfortable setting to sleep can find shelter in our various types of accommodations: campground, inns, B&Bs, etc., with a wide variety of package options.

Mont-Hereford

At St-Herménégilde’s Mount Hereford, you’ll touch the stars… or nearly. On August 15, dress warmly and board the bus that will take you to the stars. Three trips up the mountain are scheduled, beginning at 7:45 p.m. Members of the Club d’astronomie amateur de Sherbrooke will be onsite with their telescopes.

Make a wish under the Perseids!
