Tasting the Townships

Coming to the Eastern Townships without stopping for a bite to eat, means that you’ll be missing out on what is most delicious about the area—Absolutely—a MUST! With its many signature restaurants—La Table du Chef in Sherbrooke, Le Hatley of Manoir Hovey, Le Cinquième Élément in Compton… With these restaurants alone, we can claim to be one of Quebec’s most savoury regions! However, there’s much more to be discovered in our gastronomic curriculum! 23 microbreweries, part of the Brasseurs des Cantons network, 14 cheese factories on the Têtes fromagères route, all the vineyards on the Route des vins de Brome-Missisquoi and the Route des vins de l’Estrie, so many locally produced original beverages (ciders, absinth, gin, black currant drinks, etc.), our Cafés de village, public markets, and the uncountable gourmets delights found in our boutiques… tasting our region is truly a never ending story !

Culture and Heritage of the Townships

The Eastern Townships’ cultural and historical scenes are renowned, of course, for such classics as the Musée de l’Ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier and the Musée de la nature et des sciences de Sherbrooke. However, other venues, for example, Coaticook’s Musée Beaulne and Magog’s Maison Merry also carry a very rich heritage. Plus, there are exceptional places such as La Maison de l’eau, and Le Musée du chocolat de Bromont, or yet again Mégantic’s AstroLab… As you head out on our roads, you’ll witness the region’s rich cultural heritage as you observe its Anglo-Saxon accented architecture, or by following our art circuits to meet our many talented and colourful artisans. Here, as you explore our culture and heritage, you’ll discover what makes this region so authentic and how history has forged our unique character.
