Best of the Townships

Updated on Apr 9, 2024

Finding it difficult to choose from all the activities our Eastern Townships offer you? To help you find your way around, here’s a list of the not-to-be-missed activities in the region. You’ll discover some amazing things and make some truly friendly encounters!

Our Three Tourist routes

Feel like a road trip? Our tourist routes are perfect for exploring all the beauty of our region. The Townships Trail which covers 430 km will have you discover 30 cities and villages where you can admire Victorian homes, round barns, life-size historical characters, covered bridges, churches, museums and so much more. The Route des Sommets, starts at Mont-Mégantic and will take you all the way to Mont Ham. It offers breathtaking panoramas overlooking our most impressive mountains. Also, the Route des Vins will have you discover more than twenty passionate winemakers’ delicious products.

Our Numerous Microbreweries

The region counts thirty microbreweries who work together under the Brasseurs des Cantons banner to centre stage the (delicious) fruits of their labour. Each beer produced here is the result of our passionate artisans’ tireless work. Consult our microbrewery map designed by the Brasseurs des Cantons and head out to discover our local hopped flavours.

Mont Sutton's Giant Zipline

Ride the chairlift to the top of the mountain -that's 680 metres of altitude but who's counting? Feel your heart rate accelerate as you approach the kilometre-long zipline. Enjoy the rush -and the magnificent view on the way down!- but it's not quite over: it's followed by a shorter 400-metre zipline for a total of 1,400 metres of adrenaline-pumping fun!

Foresta Lumina / Parc de la gorge de Coaticook

An illuminated pathway, animated by different creatures and where there are new surprises to discover every year. A truly magical experience established within the amazing setting of the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook. Look for the nearby very charming Coffret de l’Imagination, to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

L'ASTROLab at Parc National du Mont-Mégantic

Nestled in the first International Dark Sky Reserve, the ASTROLab, with Canada's best-performing observatory, provides an incomparable perspective of the sky above. What's more, the entire family will leave with newly acquired knowledge gleaned from the activities, talks, and workshops presented throughout the year.

Our Cycling Circuits

Whether you prefer pedalling on asphalt, bicycle paths, gravel roads, or mountain trails, with little, some, or lots of elevation, you’re sure to find a route adapted to the beat you want to follow in the region. Let’s go! Hop on your bikes!

Our Magnificent Hiking Trails

To discover the most beautiful trails, to reach the highest summits, to admire unique landscapes, to wander about inside natural settings… You’ll adore hiking in the Townships! Here you’ll discover hundreds of kilometres that will take you across forests, fields and bogs!

Don’t miss: The interactive, immersive auditorium by Moment Factory and the Espace Jardin, where you can buy lavender plants and learn how to care for them at home.

Granby Zoo

No matter the season, a day at the zoo is always memorable. There are the animals, of course -some 1,500 of them- but also rides and Amazoo water park in the summer. One visit? Never enough!

Acoatica - Parc Découverte Nature

Meet Acoatica, an immersive adventure game from this Coaticook fish farm. Partake in a series of challenges to grow your school of fish (one of four species reared on-site) as large as possible. This out-of-the-box experience should prove both fun and educational for the whole family.

L'ObservÉtoiles - Au Diable Vert

Produced in partnership with National Geographic, ObservÉtoiles is the world's first augmented reality outdoor planetarium. Grab a seat in the outdoor amphitheatre, don the AR headset and explore the night sky like never before. Did you know? With VéloVolant, kayaking, cross-country skiing, dog-friendly trails, and rustic lodging options like cabins and campsites, it's impossible to be bored at Au Diable Vert.

Our Beautiful and Delicious Cheese Factories

Linked together through the Têtes Fromagères circuit, these fourteen cheese factories of the region welcome you to enjoy all kinds of tasting experiences. Fine cheeses, cheese curds, raw milk cheese, made with sheep, goat or cow’s milk … as much diversity to savour right here and also to take home so the pleasure can last even longer!
