Just because summer has come to an end, it doesn’t mean the festivities have to! Autumn in the Eastern Townships is always bursting with colours... and several major key events. From gastronomic festivals to outdoor activities, here are a few fall gatherings that will make the season as exciting as it is delicious.
Coaticook - October 11 and 12, 2025
The Comptonales Foodie Fest is Celebrating its 20th Edition!
Every autumn, families and epicureans are invited to celebrate our local flavours during this popular culinary event held in the heart of the magnificent Compton countryside. On a seven-destination circuit, producers, processors and artisans will gladly share their passion, their know-how and their terroir treasures. On the menu: tastings, delicious treats and friendly encounters, making the experience truly unforgettable. This year, why not take on the adventure by cycling from one stop to the next? If you’d rather not, you can enjoy the tour simply by hopping on a shuttle that will transport you across the circuit for free! In fact, on Thanksgiving Monday, the Virée Gourmande festivities will end with a harvest market! Indeed, more than thirty producers will gather to celebrate the season’s bounty in grand style. Buy your tickets starting August 1.
Activities: Transform your culinary discovery day into a weekend getaway! The next day, explore Mount Pinacle or Mount Hereford where you can enjoy a good work out and burn off some of the calories you might have accumulated the day before!
Accommodations: Auberge du Changement d’ère is where you can choose to sleep in one of their “Air Drops,” an ingenious new type of accommodation! Motel La Source also offers you a very warm welcome! You might consider renting a cottage at Les Chalets Bromi as well!
Mégantic – October 4 and 5
Head out on an Unforgettable Gastronomic Adventure Celebrating the Dégustez Mégantic Festival’s 3rd Edition!
This delectable foodie itinerary invites you to savour the region’s bounty by visiting 15 local producers and processors, each offering unique specialties. Whether you go with your family or your friends, you’ll be delighted by the welcoming ambiance, free tastings and authentic encounters with passionate artisans. At every stop, you’ll be offered tasty bites or a sip of pure pleasure as you learn more about their production methods and appreciate the love they express for their craft. Unique, inviting and 100% local, experience a true gastronomic adventure this autumn in the Mégantic region.
Activities: Observe all kinds of animals by way of a guided visit, it’s the perfect family activity. Your little ones will be fascinated by what they’ll discover!
Accommodations: If you’re a good size group, the charming Chez Léo par Maison Dudley home is an excellent choice! Renting a cottage at the Domaine Gagnon in St-Romain is also a great option. For something different, head to the Gîte Chesham in Notre-Dame des bois.
Memphremagog – Every Weekend from September 12 to October 13, 2025
Five Venues, Thousands of Colours
Every weekend from September 12 to October 13, 2025, experience autumn at its most colourful by participating in this unique event. You’ll discover some of the region’s most breathtaking landscapes! The program offers a panoply of options as you explore five of the area’s most emblematic venues. These include the Marais de la Rivière-aux-Cerises, the Mount Orford Ski Resort, the Parc National du Mont-Orford, the municipality of Canton d’Orford and the Parc de la Baie de Magog. Guided hikes, local product tastings, outdoor concerts, creative workshops, and family entertainment are featured among the events, to name but a few. Psst! To make it easier for you to get around, a free shuttle bus will take you from one site to another throughout the day.
Activities: Although the festival boasts a full list of activities, here are a few more suggestions. While you’re in the area, you might want to play a game of golf at the Club de golf du Mont-Orford or at Manoir des Sables. And, for a relaxing pause, we suggest you head to Spa Nordic Station!
Accommodations: In the Eastern Townships region, you’ll find plenty of lodging options. Estrimont invites you to discover a warm and friendly ambiance with their very comfortable rooms; the good news is that your four-legged pals are welcome as well! As for Chalets Hygge, they offer beautifully designed units set in the heart of nature, perfect for a soothing getaway. Also, don’t stow your camping gear just because it’s autumn! Our balmy September days are ideal for extending your outdoor fun at Camping Magog-Orford. Finally, Auberge de la Tour et Spa is definitely another great option for a weekend getaway.
Bromont – 4 weekends from September 13 to October 13
The Fall Happening: Challenges, Colors, and Traditions
Starting September 13, enjoy outdoor shows, family-friendly activities, delicious local treats, and a festive atmosphere. Each weekend from September 20 onward features a different theme—experience the fall colors in a whole new way at Bromont, Montagne d’expériences!
September 20–21 – Performances by Artists from the Granby International Song Festival A preview of the winter “Jeudis Shows” series, with outdoor performances at the base of the slopes.
September 27–28 – Helly Hansen Hiking Challenge Fall means colors season! Explore the trails during this hiking challenge and get a chance to win great prizes. Various routes will be available to suit everyone—whether you're with family, friends, or looking for a more competitive experience.
October 4–5 – Western Weekend Country music lovers, this weekend is for you! Enjoy live country concerts and line dancing lessons at the foot of the mountain. Grab your hats and boots—it’s going to be a great time!
October 11–13 – Oktoberfest End the season in style with the must-see Oktoberfest! Discover (or rediscover) a variety of local microbreweries and cider houses. Pre-sale packages available for $33 + tax, including: 5 tastings (5 oz), a reusable Bromont glass, a gondola ride, and more! The celebration continues at La Débarque with Oktoberfest dinner shows!
Activities: This is the perfect time to plan a getaway to Bromont, especially to the charming Old Bromont, where you can explore the Sunday public market or visit local farm stands. Several sporting events also enhance the experience, including the Bromont Ultra trail races. Gravel biking enthusiasts will love the "100 à B7," while mountain biking fans won’t want to miss the Canadian Enduro Mountain Biking Championship or the Bromont Ultra mountain biking events.
Accommodations: For a perfect stay in the region, let yourself be charmed by Domaine Château-Bromont, just steps from the mountain! Whether you choose a cozy room or a fully equipped condo, you’ll enjoy guaranteed comfort—ideal for rounding out a perfect weekend in the area.
Sherbrooke – September 8 to 14, 2025
A Vibrant Festival Celebrating Diversity in Sherbrooke
Among the many events that warm the heart of September, Fière la fête stands out for its vibrant energy and inclusive spirit. Since 2013, this must-attend festival has proudly celebrated sexual, gender, and cultural diversity in a festive, colorful, and intergenerational atmosphere.
Whether it's through lively parties, dazzling shows, a market showcasing local queer talent, or family-friendly activities like story time, Fière la fête creates a space for celebration, reflection, and solidarity.
Activities: During your visit to Sherbrooke, you could head out for a stroll in the heart of the city or perhaps along the path taking you around the Lac des Nations. If you’d like to enjoy a relaxing pause, head to Strom Spa Nordique and treat yourself to a thermal ritual or one of the spa’s countless body cares.
Accommodations: Would you like to extend your stay in the region? Offer yourself a comfortable night’s sleep at the Grand Times Hôtel. Hôtel Delta is also an excellent option, and renowned for its warm welcome.
