Two days with family at Baie-des-Sables

Posted on July 30, 2020

The Station Touristique Baie-des-Sables is a gigantic playground for the entire family, located in the beautiful Mont-Mégantic region of the Eastern Townships. Here you’ll find a vast campground, a magnificent beach on the shore of Lake Mégantic (of course!) and a ton of activities to keep the kids busy. C’mon, as I take you along on our three-day outing at Baie-des-Sables!

The Beach

The Station touristique Baie-des-Sables* is truly a superb family destination. My three guppies had the best time ever on the sandy beach of Lake Mégantic (one of Quebec’s most beautiful waterways). Building sand castles, exploring the depths of the lake, fishing, pedal boat rides and paddleboarding, there were activities to please the entire family.

Camping

Camping is an activity we absolutely adore doing in the summertime. I find it’s an excellent way to disconnect from the daily grind and to discover, in an affordable way, all the hidden treasures of the Eastern Townships.

The Baie-des-Sables campground has the advantage of being situated in a vast wooded area. In fact, we feel as though we were in a National Park. We can put up a tent, bring our RV or even rent one of their cottages, rooms or ready-to-camp accommodations.

This is the perfect place to hike with your children or to go cycling. You must, however, remember that you’re in the Townships, so expect lots of hills on your outings!

Here’s a picture of some veeeery happy kids savouring our classic campers’ supper!

The Activities

There are many activities available on the site of Station Touristique Baie-des-Sables or very nearby. Besides the ones we tested, you can enjoy the game modules, playing basketball, horseshoes, pétanque, soccer, or softball; There’s also a treetop adventure course and finally a golf course not very far from the campground.

I also strongly suggest that you take this opportunity to visit the beautiful Mégantic region with your family. Have a great vacation!
