Estrie.ski is made up of true passionate alpine skiing enthusiasts—grouped on the Estrie.ski website and FB page—who wish to share tips, favourite spots, and most importantly, their love of the sport and the region!
In Mansonville, on the south shore of Lake Memphremagog, you’ll find the fourth-highest skiable summit in Quebec, Mount Owl’s Head. A true jewel, the mountain counts about 50 trails, of which 30% are designed for beginners. In fact, by taking the quadruple chairlift La Familiale, or the Panorama, you’ll be able to reach most easy level trails set in the “family zones.”
Sixty trails, of which almost half are set in mountain glades? This could be frightening for novice skiers who don’t wish to ski so close to trees this winter! Newcomers to the sport shouldn’t worry too much; Mount SUTTON offers a wide range of trails for them as well. They even have some glade trails that will allow you to enjoy very safe descents. This way, as a beginner, you’ll enjoy this magical environment where you might even come across some snow ghosts once in a while.
At 850 metres, Mount Orford’s summit is more than respectable. Plus, with its two neighbouring hills, Mounts Giroux and Alfred-Desrochers, the skiing possibilities are quite amazing! Combining the three summits, the domain covers four sides with 34% of the trails designed for neophytes. Another interesting element: the station’s two magic carpets are covered with a transparent dome!
With 144 trails, of which 104 are illuminated, Bromont, montagne d’expériences is the vastest night skiing domain in North America. The trails are spread over 7 mountainsides, and offer a variety of impressive experiences with 40 trails designed for beginners. Please note: on the Versant des Cantons, the Grizzly trail is great for those who would like to initiate themselves to glade skiing. Also, don’t miss going to the snack bar inside the magnificent Chalet du sommet which you’ll find … of course, on the summit!
This small 333-metre mountain, found in the heart of Sherbrooke, is the meeting place for all novice skiers. Among the trails found on the mountain’s slopes, two are reserved for tube sliding. A lot of fun activities await families and those who appreciate its urban proximity.
