Have you ever been to Valcourt, in the Eastern Townships? It was in this small town that the ingenious inventor Joseph-Armand Bombardier was born and raised. Today, it’s also where the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier invites you to immerse yourself in the captivating world of this Québec innovator.

Immersive Experiences for the Entire Family

This very unique museum welcomes you, no matter your age, to discover two immersive multimedia presentations. The first one will have you relive the story behind this ingenious mind by taking you inside his original garage, where his innovative ideas were launched. The Studios of Moment Factory produced the second presentation, in which you examine the Bombardier adventure from its beginnings all the way to how, today, they’ve conquered the sky!

And there’s more! As you explore the museum, you’ll find a panoply of dynamic hands-on activities. Among these, become the star of a Ski-Doo® snowmobile ad, try different driving styles on a Can-Am Spyder®, pilot an airplane inside a flight simulator, or why not design and try out a vehicle for the future! Indeed, you’ll discover a true venue where innovative ideas are stimulated through games, creativity and experimentation!

A New Exhibition Showcasing Sustainable Mobility

This summer, a new temporary exhibition has been added to the museum’s already generous offer. My Region, My Mobility will have you navigate across an immersive course following the theme of sustainable mobility in our rural areas. At the helm of a specially designed interactive vehicle, you’ll explore several daily commuting situations and discover some innovative means of transportation, taking you from your home to your workplace, passing by schools or recreational stops.

Taking on Challenges as a Family

The entire family can join in as you take on three tinkering challenges, testing your resourcefulness and your creativity. Immobilize a vehicle inside a precise zone, build a tower able to resist shockwaves, or perhaps have a small ball hover in midair at a specific height… You’ll find plenty of fun activities to stimulate your own creativity.

Three Packages to Discover This Summer

Throughout the season, to enhance your visit, the museum is proposing three packages. Mondays through Thursdays, from June 25 to July 10, and from August 4 to August 28, explore the BRP plant. Here you’ll learn everything there is to know about the building and assembling processes for Ski-Doo® snowmobiles, as well as all the professions and vocations involved in completing these operations. A guided tour of the museum reserve is also included in the package. Here, you’ll discover more than 70 very unique vehicles testifying to how Joseph Armand Bombardier’s inventions evolved over time.

From July 16 to August 1, the Fab Lab package will allow you to combine a museum visit with a digital construction workshop. You’ll be working together, as a family, to design a personalized bookmarker or wood medallion using a laser cutting process. Accompanied by a guide, you’ll leave with your own creation to remember your visit.

Not-to-Be-Missed Neighbouring the Museum!

Before leaving Valcourt, take a moment to cross the street in front of the museum to visit the Centre d’exposition Yvonne L. Bombardier art centre. This season the centre is inviting you to discover two exhibitions: Crues by Luce Meunier and Matière refuge by Véronique Buist. These two artists explore their preferred mediums such as painting, papermaking and embroidery, with a focus on the creative process. A sort of treasure hunt will allow you to appreciate their works of art through a fun and accessible activity, ideal for a family outing.
