The town of Bedford was an important business centre at the end of the 19th century and was long regarded as the seat of Missisquoi County. Fine examples of New England influence can be seen in the magnificent homes, as well as in the Anglican (1834), United (1871), and Catholic (1910) churches. The many red brick buildings and the wide main street create an architectural harmony reminiscent of a setting from earlier times. Kayaking activities on the Brochets River, and guided trail rides and horseback riding courses (from beginner to expert levels) offered at the equestrian centre provide a rare perspective of the downtown area. Enjoy a treat at the Café Rouge Café de Village or the chocolate shop. Because of its heritage, Bedford is a stop on the Townships Trail, and it is located on the Wine Route, making it well worth the trip.
