Meet friendly animals, reach mountain summits, spend your nights under the stars, and treat yourself to some great foodie moments… The Eastern Townships are brimming with experiences that will definitely please the entire family! This 3-day itinerary will take you off the beaten path as you explore the Mégantic, Des Sources and Val-Saint-François regions. Here, nature adventure and relaxation will greet you with open arms! Pack your bags and keep your eyes wide open; you’re sure to discover some true gems!

Day 1– Animal Encounters and a Star-Filled Sky in Mégantic

Start this first day with a visit to the Ferme du Péché Mignon , near the Parc National de Frontenac. Here, the entire family can enjoy meeting all the farm animals and participate in activities such as fruit picking or pond fishing.

Then hike up the trails of the Parc national du Mont-Mégantic, part of the Route des Sommets. This summit drive will take you to the top of Mount Mégantic and Mount Saint-Joseph, where you’ll admire the most breathtaking panoramic views.

At the end of the day, you can settle in for the night at the Sépaq park campground. Or you might choose any other of the 14 camping venues in the region for a memorable evening under the stars, in the heart of the International Dark Sky Reserve.

Day 2– Summits and Simple Pleasures in the Des Sources Region

After a foodie stop in Scotstown, where you’ll pick up some amazing charcuterie cuts, head out to the Parc régional du Mont-Ham, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! To mark this event, the park is proposing 10 new itineraries to explore its 18 km network of trails. Accessible to everyone, these will take you up to an altitude of 713 feet where you’ll admire a spectacular view.

For a well-deserved pause, head to the Moulin 7 microbrewery in Val-des-Sources. You’ll discover industrial decor and their highly renowned beers, both showcasing the history of the region.

Spend the night at the Camping de la Rivière Nicolet, the perfect place for families thanks to the many activities offered. Among these, a life-size escape game (new!), a petting farm, a pool, games and pedal karts… All this to satisfy the smallest to the tallest of the bunch before they fall happily asleep.

Day 3– Aventures and Discoveries in Val-Saint-François

Today you’ll be driving to Val-Saint-François, and on the way we suggest you stop by the Café du Couvent in Richmond to give your day a perfect kick-start!

Then, take your family for a walk in the Marais de Kingsbury marsh on the Sentiers de l’Estrie trail network. It’s an easy route, offering plenty of lovely nature observation points. Later, when you arrive in the town of Racine, fill your bags with local products as you browse through the Marché Locavore market; the ideal choice for preparing your country picnic. In the afternoon get on your bikes to explore the Sentier de l’Ardoise, an unpaved, stone dust bike path that will take you across refreshing forests and verdant farmlands. Because of its very low elevation and numerous rest areas, it’s the perfect fit for any family!

To complete your getaway, spend the night at Pura Vida Lodge & SUP, where you can rent all kinds of nautical equipment and enjoy a last few hours of fun activities with the family with your feet (or your paddle) splashing in the water.
