Gourmet delights and outdoor activities – just some of the fun things on the agenda this weekend in the Eastern Townships!

Brew your own cider!

Want to try your hand at homemade cider? On Saturday, during the Journée Cidre Maison organized by Cidrerie Milton, you can do just that! On that day, the cider mill is bulk selling five varieties of apple juice and you’ll be able to chat to brewers who will lend you their expertise. From October 21 onwards, you’ll also be able to watch a couple of online seminars to learn more about the cider making process.

Saturday, October 24 (9am-5pm) | Cidrerie Milton, Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton

Pumpkin picking time

Fall is the time of year to visit a pumpkin patch, either with your significant other or the kids. Pumpkins - bright orange members of the squash family - make wonderful decorations, as well as tasty ingredients for pies and other seasonal foods. There are eight places in the Townships where you can pick your own pumpkin.

Celebrate local gastronomy at Bistro Kapzak

To celebrate the ninth anniversary of the founding of his restaurant, chef Jason Kacprzak has created a six-course, gastronomic menu featuring his favourite dishes. He has also designed a tapas menu of barbecued nibblies, accompanied by Bistro Kapzak’s famous cocktails - a real treat for the taste buds!

Bye-Bye Birdies!

The cooler weather brings with it flocks of migratory birds and it offers a great opportunity to observe our feathered friends up close. The following are four key places where you can spot a variety of bird species as they prepare to head south.

Enjoy hiking in the fresh, autumn air…

Good news! Most of the trails that were closed during the hunting season are open again this weekend and next, but after November 7, they will once more be out of bounds to hikers. Right now though, you can enjoy the magnificent views from Mont Hereford, Mont Gorford and along the Sentiers de l’Estrie - a network of hiking trails throughout the region.
