What to do this weekend – October 30-November 1 – Halloween in the Spotlight

This year, Halloween happens to fall during a weekend and in spite of the constrained circumstances, the Townships offers a number of fun activities. Time to don your costumes!

Celebrate Halloween at the Granby Zoo

Get the kids together in their Halloween outfits and head for the Granby Zoo! Along with the fascinating 1,500 creatures who live there, you’ll find seasonal decorations, live entertainment and (contactless) candies for the small fry.

Join a Halloween car rally

The Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo and Auberge Ayer’s Cliff have teamed up to create a car rally themed around Légendes d’Halloween. From the safety of your vehicle, celebrate Halloween with your family as you rack your brains about Halloween legends. Don’t forget to wear a costume. You could win a prize!

Saturday, October 31 | Departures from Auberge Ayer’s Cliff (9am-12 noon)| Ticket purchase online only

Pig out on sweet treats!

The traditional activity at Halloween is to go from door to door collecting chocolates and candies. This year, you won’t be able to do that, but you can still pig out on sweet treats! Get your sugar fix by visiting one of our chocolate makers, bakeries or pastry shops. The following are venues where you can pick up some mouthwatering, decadent goodies.

Test your general knowledge as you go for a walk….

How about a Halloween foot rally? At the Nature Interpretation Centre in Lac Boivin (Granby) you can walk the La Prucheraie trail and at the same time answer questions about animals associated with Halloween. You could be lucky and win a prize!

Until November 1 | Centre d’interprétation de la nature du lac Boivin, Granby | Free of charge

Spend an evening at the Manoir aux Mystères

The intriguing Manoir aux Mystères (Manor of Mysteries) is staging a fondue dinner show themed around the strange characters who ‘live’ in the house…. Scary moments guaranteed!

Reservations required : (819) 868-6847| Manoir aux Mystères, Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley

Spooky creatures at the museum….

This weekend, the Museum of Nature and Science in Sherbrooke is going to be displaying the most spooky and scary-looking insects and spiders in its collection! Take a close-up look at these specimens and learn more about their world through watching the movie Titans, which goes into detail about the giant (and relatively unknown) insects found in Quebec.

Horror movie at the Maison du Cinéma

Friday sees the release of the horror movie Viens jouer (Come and Play) at Sherbrooke’s Maison du Cinéma. Two family films will also be rescreened for kids - Coco and Hôtel Transylvanie.
