This winter, we’re heading outdoors with the family to take advantage of all the activities this beautiful colder season has to offer! At a loss of inspiring ideas? We’re suggesting five thrilling activities that will delight the entire family.

Ice Fishing

This way all you fish out there! On Lake Mégantic at the Station touristique Baie-des-Sables, the Parc National de la Yamaska’s Choinière Reservoir, or on the pond of the Parc Découverte Nature in Coaticook, you’ll just need to cast your line and follow the advice gladly given to you by our onsite experts. Who’ll catch the biggest fish? All bets are on!

Tube sliding

What a joy to glide down the hill at full speed, to hear children burst out laughing and to end the day rosy-cheeked from being outdoors all day! In the Townships, there are four not-to-be-missed venues designed for tube or luge sliding. Find them right here.

You don’t need to be as graceful as Tessa Virtue or Scott Moir to jump onto the ice of the region’s skating rinks! The frozen pond of the Domaine Howard in Sherbrooke, the frozen path by the lake in Magog, Th big ice rink of the André-Nadeau outdoor centre… There are numerous places where you can smoothly glide on the ice hand in hand, or skate with a frenzy after a hockey puck.

Visiting the Zoo de Granby

To meet up with the Zoo de Granby’s many feathery and furry residents is a must for young and tall alike. Several species are especially active during the colder season! Ice Climbing

You can take advantage of winter in this very unique way as you introduce yourself to ice climbing at the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook where you’ll find eight ice walls for different skill levels. The ChamoX enterprise offers initiation days when you can learn how to handle ice axes and crampons on their climbing walls. Please note this activity is for 10-year-olds and over.
