This winter, let’s all head outside, guided by the countless activities offered in our beautiful region. Our national parks and our outdoor sports centres are brimming with trails to be explored on snowshoes, cross-country skis and on fatbikes. Surrounded by Mount Mégantic’s snow ghosts, inside Plein Air Sutton’s hundred-year-old forest, on the magnificently groomed trails of the Club de Golf Les Cèdres, on top of the observation tower of the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook … here, the abundance of sublime decors have nothing to envy the rest of Quebec. Enjoy winter in your region, enjoy winter in the Eastern Townships!
With hundreds of kilometres of trails, countless mountains, some with elevations higher than 1,000 metres and enchanting landscapes, the Eastern Townships region is an extraordinary playground for snowshoeing enthusiasts. We’re introducing you here to twelve trails you must (re) discover this winter.
Club de Golf Les Cèdres
For an active cross-country ski practice, head out to the Club de Golf Les Cèdres where and its 31 km of perfectly groomed trails. And if you wish to add a little variety to your visit, fatbikes kick sleds, snowshoes and skijoring are also offered here.
Parc national du Mont-Mégantic
Trees transformed into snow ghosts? You’ll see plenty of these on the snowshoe and Nordic cross-country ski trails that will take you to the top of Mount Mégantic. In the evening, offer yourself a torchlight outing at the ASTROLab. Absolutely magical!

Over the past few years, Fatbiking has been in full expansion and is attracting more and more adepts in the region. Are you one of them? Or, would you be tempted to try this fun experience? You can go to any of the following seven places where you’ll be able to pedal in the snow in the Townships!
Plein Air Sutton
Snow-covered trees, the sun filtering through the branches, the crunching snow under our feet as we set out … there’s something quite appeasing about walking through this hundred-year-old forest. To explore on cross-country skis, crampons or snowshoes!
Sentiers Missisquoi Nord
Discover the peaceful, low-traffic, easy snowshoeing and winter hiking trails in and around Eastman. The icing on the cake? They’re all accessible for free!
Zoo de Granby
Many residents of the Zoo are very active in winter and can’t wait to test their seductive powers on you. Through all the admiring “ohs!” and “ahs!” your children will also discover the winter village with its slides, the maze and the giant inflatable games.
Whether you’re looking for an intense challenge or to simply enjoy a fun time (not too cardio!) with our family, you’ll surely find what you’re looking for in our suggestions. With more than 1,000 km of cross-country ski trails, the Eastern Townships offer a wide range of possibilities. The proof? It’s this way!
Parc national de la Yamaska
Tease the fish under the ice, ride a fatbike under the forest canopy or by the Reservoir Choinière, go on a snowshoe outing with the family, spend the night in a cozy chalet … all kinds of activities await here!

Parc national du Mont-Orford
In an exquisite nature setting that makes you want to linger a while, to put on a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis, or to hop on a fatbike for enjoying a day in the great outdoors. By the Étang aux Cerises pond, on the summit of Mont-Chauve or on the Colline des Pins … which will be your favourite point of view?
Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook
Fatbike trails, snowshoeing and winter hiking trails that will take you to two high observation towers, a skating rink, ice climbing, shelter lodgings, and even winter camping sites … you’ll discover all kinds of family fun ideas here! Vie de plein air
No sports equipment? No worries! Drop by Vie de plein air in Magog where you can rent kick sleds, snowshoes or skates. Once you have your rental in hand (or on your feet!), head out to explore the trail set along Lake Memphremagog. Absolutely beautiful!
Parc Découverte Nature
To your lures everyone, for a great ice fishing outing! Experience this unique activity by initiating yourself, or by testing your skills, in the art of tackling the fish. With a little luck, you might be able to prepare a delicious feast for supper! tip ups and bait are included.
Station touristique Baie-des-Sables
Dress the kids in their warmest and get ready for a full day of winter fun. Alpine skiing, tube sliding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, torchlight outings… a ton of activities and only one destination. Love it!
Parc des Sommets - The Mount Oak Network
Get on your bike and head out to discover the Mount Oak’s 17 km of easy and intermediate level trails in the Parc des Sommets. You don’t own a fatbike? Rent one at the Centre national de cyclisme de Bromont or at Pittstop Vélo-Café.
