What to do this weekend - July 23-25

Here are some suggestions for activities in the Townships this weekend!

English-style afternoon tea

Follow the lead of our ‘ambassador’, Jean-Philippe Dion and sample the oh-so-British tradition of afternoon tea at the Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre (Sherbrooke). Enjoy a selection of dainty sandwiches and mouthwatering pastries, washed down with a refreshing ‘cuppa’, set against the backdrop of a historic building from the region’s past.

Tuesday – Sunday (11am-2:30pm) | Reservations required

Discover new hiking trails

Mont Megantic, Mont Hereford, Réserve naturelles des montagnes vertes and the Dudswell Forest – all these trails (and many more) are outlined in our special feature on hiking. Whether you want to give your calves a good workout or to just take a leisurely stroll, you’re sure to find a trail within easy reach.

Follow the Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route

Meander along scenic roads. Travel from vineyard to vineyard. Taste the products of the terroir and meet the most fascinating people – the passionate vintners who own and operate the region’s wineries. To get the most out of your trip, take a look at a couple of our suggested itineraries :

A sejourn into the past in Courcelles

Are you familiar with the municipality of Courcelles? It’s a hamlet of 800 souls in the Megantic region and the site of a cluster of tourist attractions that hark back to earlier times. Collectively known as Espace Aux Rives du temps, it comprises the Moulin Bernier (Bernier Mill), which has a walkway/lookout point, the 1895 Lambton Station Wagon and the Maison-Atelier Tardif (a one-time workshop).

Soar skywards in a ski lift

Unusually for this time of the year, Mont Orford is opening up its ski lifts so that visitors can travel easily to the summit of the mountain. There are several lookout points at the top where you can take in the spectacular views and tuck into a picnic – either your own or by purchasing one on site.
