Where to Eat the Best Fondues in the Townships?

Updated on Nov 2, 2023

After having spent the day playing outside, there’s nothing better than to treat yourself to a delicious fondue prepared by pros! As far as we’re concerned, it’s the ideal option. Here are three Townships restaurants where you should stop if you share our opinion.

Fondissimo - Magog

Your heart is wavering between a Chinese or a cheese fondue? No problem, because you’ll find both at Fondissimo. Fine palate adventurers will be totally satisfied with “Le gars de bois” (lamb, ostrich, duck, deer, kangaroo, rabbit, shrimp, scallops, salmon, langoustines, slices of beef, beef cubes, chicken and marinated pork). As for the classic fondue lovers, they can opt for “Le confortable” (slices of beef, beef cubes, chicken and marinated pork). Undecided? “Le touche-à-tout” (shrimp, scallops, salmon, langoustines, slices of beef, beef cubes, chicken and marinated pork) is an excellent option for you.

As for the cheese fondues, they all come with Gruyere and Emmental cheeses, and can be served with many deliciously pimped options (“Poivre rose,” “Normande,” “Amandine, ‘Bleue,’ ‘Rustique’ and ‘Saison’).

Two other advantages: the restaurant offer an amazing decor … and you can bring your own wine.

Manoir aux Mystères - Ste-Catherine-de-Hatley

For a very original evening, Manoir aux Mystères is the ideal place! With its dinner-show formula, during which several very colourful characters will be serving tables, you’ll savour a very delicious fondue while enjoying the entertainment. The classic beef, chicken and shrimp will satisfiy all your gourmet cravings. For vegetarians they have a tofu option as well. All fondues include baked potatoes and crudités, and their dinner special includes soup, salad and a delicious dessert.

Les 3 Péchés - Granby

In this bring-your-own-wine restaurant, you’ll love the warm decor, as you savour a generous fondue. First you select either a Chinese or bourguignonne fondue. Each one is accompanied with five sauces, baked potatoes, vegetables, a choice of side dishes (salad, fries, rice…) and three meat cuts (beef, pork, chicken). Then, you can, for a small extra cost, replace your meat selection by another or add one ( shrimp, sausages, beef rolls…) and order all the sauces, vegetables and bread you want! Therefore, at Les 3 Péchés, the approach is more of a classic one, but which has proven its worth. Oh! and if you’re more the cheese fondue type, you’re in luck, because here they serve three varieties on the menu. Each one is accompanied with fruit, vegetables and bread.

Are You a Stay-at-Home Cheese Lover?

A cheese fondue in the comfort of your home… Perfect for a quiet evening of cocooning. Two suggestions:

La station is a not-to-be-missed cheese factory, and sells cheese fondue kits made with their Alfred Le Fermier, Comtomme and Chemin Hatley cheeses. Available at the cheese factory and in several grocery stores in the region.

The fondue of the Abbaye is also delicious. With hints of hazelnut, this fondue blends together three of the abbey’s creations including their Gouda, and two types of Swiss cheese. Available at the abbey’s gift shop. You can also order.
