Just 8 minutes from downtown Lac-Mégantic, the ready-to-camp Camping Aventure Mégantic invites you to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. Did you know that the Mégantic region is particularly well known for being an International Dark Sky Reserve? Staying outside of the town centre for the night is therefore a good idea if you want to admire the night sky. On site, you’ll feel like you’re in the heart of the forest, but with all the comforts of home. The wooden Pods, Cabanias, Apodis and Yurts offer the perfect accommodations for a nature immersion. Start the day by warming up your muscles on the Scotch Cap trail. This short 3 km hike is a quick climb (30 to 45 minutes) offering a breathtaking panorama! You’ll be able to appreciate all the beauty of the Mégantic region from two different perspectives. On your left, you’ll enjoy a view overlooking the border region framed by the Appalachian Mountains, and on the opposite side, the lush green massif of Mont Mégantic. You can easily reach the trailhead, which is on Route 263, by driving towards Piopolis from Camping Aventure Mégantic.

In the late morning, stop by the charming village of Piopolis. You’ll discover that the serene ambiance here is a cordial invitation to slow down the pace. With its flower-filled streets and views of Lake Mégantic in the background, it’s easy to imagine yourself being able to suspend time here. As you’re daydreaming on the dock, observe the slow, harmonious dance of the boats as they drift by here and there. Then, prompted by your curiosity, rummage for a hidden treasure in the village centre’s second-hand shop, L’Est Passe-Temps, to find a wonderful souvenir! Among the many villages that make up the soul of the Eastern Townships, Piopolis is one of the 10 Cœurs Villageois, and the pride of the region.
