2 days

There are plenty of gastronomic destinations in the Eastern Townships! So why not gather your foodie friends who enjoy discovering delicious products to explore the local flavours in the Haut-Saint-François and Coaticook Valley regions? Restaurants, microbreweries, cheese dairies, cider houses... here, fine food is enjoyed at every turn! This two-day trip is an invitation to explore the region, share good times and create delicious memories.

DAY 1 – Local Flavours and the Joys of Nature in Cookshire-Eaton

Start your day at Ferme Au Pré Bleu, in Ascot Corner, where you can pick your own berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries) to savour all along the route.

Then, stop by Ferme Florale Libella to pick some flowers and herbs before heading to Scotstown, where you’ll discover the well-known Charcuterie Scotstown, perfect for completing your basket of goodies. Here, you’ll also discover the Parc Régional du Marécage-des-Scots.

Starting out from the Walter-McKenzie Park, take the multi-use trail for a leisurely forest stroll or rent a boat to explore the Rivière au Saumon. Later, in the afternoon, drop by 11 Comtés, a rural microbrewery selling craft beers highlighting our terroir flavours.

You’ll find the perfect ending to your day at the restaurant Les Mals-Aimés, a very creative Table Champêtre. Here, our often less loved vegetables take centre stage through a refined and surprising cuisine. Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, head to the Camping du Pont Couvert in Waterville to spend the night. Our favourite campsites, and their best-kept secret, “Le Secret” sector, can be found in the heart of the forest.

DAY 2 – Ciders, Cheeses and Fruity Treats in Compton

Start your second day with a hike on the trails of the Parc Harold F. Baldwin, better known under its mountain name of Mont Pinacle. The effort-view ratio is well worth your while! And that first cup of coffee you’ll enjoy once you’ve reached the summit will complete this picture-perfect moment!

Your second stop will take you to La Station Cheese Makers where you can sample award-winning cheeses, enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich on the terrace and visit their economuseum. While you’re in the area, drive just 2 kilometres further, to the town of Hatley, to discover the little café-boutique Sacrévice, located right on a maple sugaring bush. Then, as you continue your road trip through the area, a stop at the Cidrerie Compton is a must. Here their organic ciders, always produced in small batches, will have you discover the rich flavours of their orchard.

End your culinary outing at Verger Le Gros Pierre. Their new covered terrace offers an amazing view overlooking the orchard, and their boutique is always brimming with homemade products to eat right here or to take out…starting with their famous apple pie!
