Published on May 29, 2018

Discover some of the prime events that will be taking place this weekend in the Eastern Townships. From the Grand tour du lac Mégantic (a bike tour), the Fait de nos mains (a craft fair), the opening of the Locavore Market and a gourmet event at La Clé des Champs, there is truly something for everyone!

Meet local food producers

The Clé des Champs de Dunham is a drawing card for foodies and no wonder. This agritourism event, now in its 21st year, takes place this weekend in the village of Dunham. The Clé des Champs features 65 artisanal producers who love to chat about their unique gourmet food, imbued with the flavours of the local terroir.

Come to the Grande Ouverture du Marché Locavore

This weekend marks the grand opening of Racine’s Locavore Market. It’s been running for 10 years and it operates from Thursdays to Sundays, throughout the summer season. BBQ, music, tastings and the opportunity to chat to local food producers while sampling their tasty wares!

Cycle with your family around Lake Megantic

Le Grand Tour du lac Mégantic has now been running for 25 years and it’s one of those attractions that you really won’t want to miss! The 55-km (34-mile) marked route, takes you along the Summit Drive which offers spectacular views, drawing cyclists from far and wide. Are you bringing along the kids? If so, there’s no problem, because as well as the long route, there is a shorter, ‘family-friendly’ run of 33 kilometres (20.5 miles), which is easier on little legs.

Chat to artisans from across Quebec

This is your chance to talk to the more than 52 crafts people from around the province who are participating in the Salon des Artisans – Fait de nos mains, which takes place on June 2 at Sherbrooke University’s Cultural Centre. You can ask them about the beautiful handmade items offered for sale and at the same time, have the opportunity to win one of three gift baskets worth $900! Best of all, entry is free. The Salon opens at 9am.

Eat on the terrace of a Café de Village

The sun is poking its head out, announcing the summer season and NOW is the time to take advantage of sitting outdoors on a terrace, as the weather warms your winter-weary bones! This weekend, drop by the Cafetier Sutton and sample one of their excellent breakfasts – gourmet coffees, eggs, eggs and more eggs (An omelette anyone? Or how about eggs Benedict?), homemade Muesli, smoothies….. all the ingredients in other words for a memorable meal!
