What to do this weekend – August 3-5

Are you going to be in the Eastern Townships this weekend? If so, you’ll be able to enjoy a wide variety of festivals and events. The following will give you a taste of things to see and do – lots of fun guaranteed!

A food fest in Sherbrooke

On August 3 and 4, a number of downtown Sherbrooke eateries and microbreweries are participating in the Bouffe ton Centro – a food fest augmented by activities such as yoga in the street, dance workshops and shopping. The festival runs from 11am-7pm, along Wellington Street North, the city’s main thoroughfare. 70 local establishments will be taking part, including Masala Café, Le Tapageur, Café Bla-Bla and beer makers Le Siboire and Le Boquébière.

Celebrate summer at the Fête de l’eau

This brand new “Festival of the water” will be launched on Saturday, August 4 on Plage des Cantons, Magog’s public beach. Bring the family and enjoy all the activities that are on offer – water slides, inflatable games, sailing, kayaking and beach volleyball. Set sail across Lake Memphremagog or just enjoy the beach. There are enough activities to keep you and the family entertained for the entire day!

The last chance to enjoy the Concert de la Cité

These free musical performances take place during the summer in downtown Sherbrooke and Saturday, August 4, marks the last concert of the season. The 31st edition closes in grand style with performances by Nicolas Pellerin and his group Les Grand Hurleurs, Les Dudes (a circus act) and Colin Moore.

Coaticook Valley Fair

The Coaticook Valley region is celebrating its farming heritage during this 41st edition of the annual agricultural fair. Attractions include a merry-go-round, shows, tractor and pick-up truck pulls, exhibits, tastings and much, much more! It’s a great opportunity to learn more about farming and the passionate producers who help to put food on our table (August 2-5).

O'SUP

Paddleboarding in the Townships

If you’ve never tried paddleboarding, a water sport that originated in Hawaii, now is your big chance! All around the region are places where you can take lessons, rent boards and paddle around the waterways - a unique way to enjoy the Eastern Townships!

That’s not all this weekend! In addition to the above, are the Festival CinéVue (outdoor movies) and the Sherbrooke's Festival des rythmes d'Afrique. Enjoy your visit to the Townships!
