The Eastern Townships in Winter? Yes! and Six Times More Than Once!

Updated on Dec 15, 2023

Prepare to fall in love, or to rekindle your love for the Eastern Townships as the snow settles here once again. Here are 6 reasons that could literally spark a passionate love affair with our region.

1. Our Simply Irresistible National Parks

They all offer many kilometres of hiking trails, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing. . . Some of them even offer torchlight outings, Nordic skiing, fatbike. . . Whether for a well-filled day or a two or three-day getaway in a chalet or a shelter, your visit to one of our National Parks, Mont-Orford, Frontenac, Mont-Mégantic or Yamaska, is sure to become one of your fondest memories.

2. Fun and Romantic Frozen Paths

Warm clothes, a pair of skates and you’re off for hours of pure joy! Many skating rinks are waiting for you in the Townships, all with their own unique appeal. Why not come and check them out for yourself!

3. Museums as Intriguing as They Are Amazing

A destination in itself, or as a stop for a couple of hours during the day, our museums constitute excellent choices (especially when it’s really, really cold outside!). Take for example the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier which always offers interesting exhibits. 13-year-old visitors and older can use their Fab Lab, a creative and very special space. There’s also the Musée Nature Sciences Sherbrooke which is a favourite among curious young (and not so young) visitors. Many exhibits are presented, often interactive and always super interesting.

4. Jouvence : an All-inclusive Winter Fun Vacation

Even your youngest, who’s usually not too happy to step outside in winter, is sure to find a fun activity at Jouvence. The experience is complete, fun, varied and really cool: lodging, meals, spa, sauna, kilometres of forest trails, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, and. . . It’s OK to have great expectations at Jouvence, they’can all be met!

5. Absolutely Memorable Festivals

These gatherings have become a must for many, every winter: the Fête des Neiges in Magog, the Mégantuque Festival in Lac-Mégantic, Plaisirs d’hiver in Eastman or Sherbrooke’s fabulous carnival... So many fun family get-togethers! They all offer great opportunities for creating happy memories with your kids smiling from ear to ear!

6. Four Ski Hills With Lots of Character

The illuminated trails of Bromont, the versatility and amazing, never-ending landscapes of Orford, Sutton’s intense glades and the totally renewed mountain experience of Owl’s Head... It doesn’t matter if you have a favourite one or prefer going from one to the other, each mountain has something very unique to offer.
